Possibly making a purchase

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums but I have been lurking around here for a bit and reading things. I have always loved the RX-8's but I never thought I would have the chance to purchase one. But now I do. I've recently found a 2006 RX-8 Shinka for 8000. It has 100,690 miles on it and it looks to be in relaively good shape. I was just wondering if any one thought that I should continue looking or not. Thanks for any and all help.

Check the first thread in my sig. Specifically the section on compression tests.

We can't give you a recommendation without compression scores. At that mileage though, it looks suspiciously like someone that dumped it because they left the engine warranty point and were no longer confident in the engine.

Alright thanks, I was thinking that there was possiblly something wrong with it myself since it was so cheap and right over the 100,000 mark.

If I were you, keep looking and find a lower mileage if you can, so that you have enough leftover warranty in it. Good luck with your search.

Alright, so I went and took a look at it. It seems like it is in really good shape and according to the Carfax report it has been serviced regularly like it is supposed to be.

In March of this year it was taken to the Mazda dealership because the check engine light was on, I called the dealership to see what all was wrong with it and what had been done. They said that from what they could tell they just replaced the plugs, wires, and coils. I am planning on either going to take it to get compression tested tomorrow or Thursday. With them just replacing those things, does it seem like if it passes the compression test that it is worth the time and money?
