New owner/first post/bad experience

Imagine my absolute glee and joy when I brought my new baby home. I showed it off to all of my envious friends only to discover a large scratch down the passenger side top, rear door and trunk. ARGGG! Called the dealer right away and advised. They said they would have to try to locate me another one, this one came from another dealer. They asked me not to title it and drive it as little as possible. It's hard to get attached to a car that you are taking back. Other than that, I just love the car. Has anyone else had this kind of problem. I was going to just get it buffed out till I discovered that the scratch was all the way down through all the coats. Since the dealer is located about an hour from me, I told them I'd bring it back when my new car arrives which hopefully should be in a few days. On the positive side... I haven't flooded the thing yet.:p

When i was at the dealership, they tried to sell me one that wasnt the color i wanted, and it had a dent and scratch on the rear left fender. When i pointed it out to the saleman..he practically started crying, and found the color i wanted, and gave me the appearance package and spoiler options for only 250 bucks more :D!! lucky me

SWEET. I guess the thing that really gets me is that we had to order the darn thing from another dealer to get what I wanted and I've been waiting for it for awhile. You'd think that once they got the car in they'd make sure it was OK. Sad part is when they repaint the 3 panels that need painting and sell it to someone else without their knowledge.

I sat there for what seemed like forever trying to figure out reverse. I finally went and got my salesman (An RX7 driver, I thought that was cool) and he showed me. I felt like a twit.

There is a lot to be said about the prepurchase/predelivery inspection. The most important is......DO IT. Look the car over with a microscope. You are lucky the dealer did not say "we are sorry you scratched your new car, we will be glad to repaint it for a (not so ) small fee"

I know that you're annoyed that you have to return the car, but you are extremely lucky the dealer isn't hassling you. Most dealers wouldn't have been so agreeable.

Always pick up your new cars in the middle of the day and inspect them in and out. Had my dealer put mine up on the lift too. The only thing that I found as a pre-delivery defect was that the little rubber bumper for the console lid was missing. The dealer was happy that the car was thoroughly inspected because it meant that their prep guys were doing a good job and that they were going to get good scores on the delivery survey.

I stalled the "test drive car" three times IIRC, reverse is very hard to find if your coming from an automatic.

IIRC my old mustang required you go to first then reverse. Can't remember what I had to do on the miata. But the whole pushing down was totally foreign to me.

So it snowed yesterday....and 2 days ago it was about 60 degrees outside. This blew my mind. I found my car took to the snow quite well for a rear wheel drive car, much better then my BMW, but i could barely get up my hill on my way home! :-\, lets hope the snow will go away
