New member looking to purchase!

Hey guys :wavey: ,

I'm a newbie here, but definately not a noobie to this forum stuff. I know, search is my friend! I was just introducing myself and letting you guys know i'm seriously looking into getting a RX-8. I've read about some people getting '05's for under $23,500 OTD, and i'm currently searching for that kind of deal! Right now i'm kind of down, i've been searching for cars all weekend and i'm kind of tired of dealing with salesmen and dealerships :puke:. No one seems to want to get near $25k OTD for 6 speed manual with at least Sport Package. I'll rehab during the week and search again at the end of the week.

If anyone knows of any dealerships in So.Cal that is offering great deals please point me in that direction!

I'm also considering used, but I need to research some more for 04's and problems, ie flooding.

You guys have a pretty good forum going on here!

A couple weeks back the dealer in Claremont had three RX-8 priced $21,999 after discounts, rebates, etc. OTD will be like $24K. I knew one of them had a sport pckg in it. Good luck.

Funny you mention that. I went to Claremont yesterday and they had 2 6spd 05's with Sport Package for $24,995 and won't budge from that :nono: . I tried negotiating with the internet fleet manager and he only went down to $24,500 before TTL. I guess no more deals in May?

Other dealers I went to:
Norco offered $22,995 before TTL for a base, no packages. The salesman was a hard sell type guy, working hard to close the deal. He kept on teling me the deal is only good for 15 minutes, which is when they closed. I was like okay: "So I shouldn't come back if I leave?" haha that made him freeze for a bit. After he knew I was going to check out some other dealers he said just kidding about the 15 minute offer. 15 minutes after I left the dealership he calls and said the offer is good for 24 hours. :mdrmed:

Romero Mazda in Ontario, well the salesman I dealt with was a complete idiot. Couldn't keep a conversation. He was about 20-23 years old and seemed like a stoner that didn't give a cr#p about a sale. I asked straight up whats the best he can do, and he said the best is STICKER price! Then he goes on to say the car is 'worth that much', and points out that the hinges for the 'suicide doors' cost about $600, and some other b.s. to make the car worth the STICKER price. My friend told me to ask him to itemize everything while he's at it :mdrmed: . Again, I asked him if he'd go down, and he said: "No, I wouldn't, but i'll ask my manager." He comes back with a bunch of papers to write up an offer to: "see what happens", and that he'll need to check my credit. I was like HA! :bootyshak Gave him a piece of my mind about how weak he was and he took it like a boy and couldn't comeback with anything to say.

I also went to a Subaru dealer as i'm cross shopping with the WRX or even a used STi. The finance guy there was another story that I won't get into!

The search continues...

Update:

A internet fleet manager just offered $23,843 for a 05 6speed With Sport Package, Appearance package, rotary accent package, and wing. So out the door would be about $26,500. MSRP is $30,199. What do you guys think?

He also offered:
Manual w/touring and wing:
MSRP $31,874.00
Internet $25,284.00

Manual w/grand touring and wing:
MSRP $33,134.00
Internet $26,366.00

You guys with the Touring or Grand Touring package, how much do you enjoy the extra features?

Thats right in the same ballpark as the midwest. I have been searching and for a GT the dealers are taking $7000 off MSRP. Thats with $1000 MAC

i guess you have to decide whether leather is worth the extra 1100 to you. if you don't care then you don't need the gt package :)

Maybe So-Cal is a different market with what everybody is offering, however I just bought a new 05 8 yesterday in Cincinnati. (Drove 4 1/2 hours to get it, but it was worth it). Spent the previous week calling up dealerships and gathering information, then I just baited one against the other thru phone calls ("X will give me this one for $XXX off MSRP, what can you do on yours).

Finally settled on one in Cincy, $31 MSRP for $23,100

Hope that gives you some comparison.

My suggestion: start a spreadsheet with numbers and options lined-up and add a "sum" row to total the money off of MSRP. I saved at least $1000 by comparing and calling + I got them to add a spolier and give me more than KBB "excellent" condition on my trade!

Also, two weeks ago, Browning Mazda offered $7200 off MSRP for all of their '05s. Ask for Bob or Ty in the fleet.
The Claremont deal was on a saturday LA Times ad, so keep checking those. Good luck.
