Mazda S Plan (AKA Ford X PLan)
 

Hello all...

I wanted to let you know of the Mazda S plan some may be leigible for. This is how I bought my RX8 and my previous 2 autos as well.

If you work for a company that has several fleet vehicles (cable company in my case) your corporate HR/benefits department may have access to the Ford "X Plan".

This plan is a closed opportunity, not open ot the general public. It closely mimics the Ford employee purchase price for a vehicle.

In my case, I had to provide the printed page from the X-plan site (Mazda's is called the S plan for some reason) and I was given the invoice price plus about $5 or $600 which is a "holdback" for the dealership. This alone was a good savings, but with this plan, assuming your dealership is an honest one, you are also eligible for any dealer incentives. In my case "$2500 cash back to the dealer on a new lease from Mazda on 2004 models, ending August 31".

So I got about $4500.00 of the sticker price, no haggles, etc...

It's a good plan, especially late in a model year when there are incentives on the previous year's stock. You can really save a lot with jsut a little research.

Only thing I have ever seen with a better price is Volvo's Overseas Delivery Program where you take a free trip to sweeden and save like 6k off the sticker.

Most people are aware of this, there is usually an "s" plan thread going every week in this forum. Its how I bought mine.

I'm surprised they also gave you the holdback. Am I supposed to be able to get that too? I might press that onto them if they try to increase the price since I'm getting a 2005 and not a 2004. Yes I have S-plan.

I had to haggle for the holdback and my trade-in value. Stayed at the dealership until 1:00 am and got another $1500 on my trade and the $500 holdback.

But no, they are supposed to keep the holdback and only did this for me to help move a 2004 off the lot.

Unless you are after a white RX8, I think a 2004 model would offer you a better deal including incentives and in a few years, you will also have a "low mileage" 2004 RX8, with better resell value.

Yes, they are supposed to gi9ve you the hld back as well, it's $750 on the 04 RX8, none ont he 05. I'm still getting an 05 just because there aren't any 04s just the way I want one around here so I'll just order what I want. This is what I've done on two of my last three cars.

Ordered mine on 9/13. Did you get an estimated Time of arrival on yours from the dealer?

The fine print on Price Schedule No: 2005-01 says: *Base price INCLUDES S-Plan plus Holdback, Mazda Elite Porgram, Dealer Commission, Administration Fee, Mazdatoen, and Gas Charge.

As I read it, dealer should not up that figure at all. I'm going to check with Mazda HQ to see if this is correct. Will report back.

I ordered mine on 9/6 and was told it would be about 8 weeks.

I can't find much information on the S-plan. How do I find out if I qualify, and how can I get more info to research the plan? The first post mentions the Mazda site, but I can't find any info on the public Mazda site about the S-plan. Do I check with my employer? I am hesitant to call a dealer, as I wonder if I would be given accurate information.

You have to check with your employer to find out if the Company you work for is a Ford Motor CO partner...... If so then you have to call a 1800 number to get a PIN # that is good for ANY Ford Motor Co and its called X-PLAN but for Mazda is called S-Plan.... I bought my car with this Plan and saved about 2K on the price....the higher the value of the car the higher the discount it is!!!!. Good Luck.

P.S: If you know some boday that works for Ford maybe they can get you a PIN # .... note that not all Mazda dealers accept the S-Plan so check before you start dealing ok!.

Even if you have S-Plan, and you want it for someone else that is outside of normal parameters, all you have to do is write a request. I've seen it approved more than a few times.

General Motors has been offering such things for months, though that doesn't help us in the Mazda crowd.

Just realize the company I work for does qualify for the S-Plan! :D If I read the argeement correctly, the S-Plan price is all you get, you don't get any incentives or rebates "unless specifically approved and announced by the company". Is that right? Anybody has any input on this?

Edit: Never mind, the FAQ page actually says all publicly available incentives are applicable.

hmm..the company I work for has a few ford's as company vehicles...perhaps when i'm ready i'll ask them about this. Getting the s-plan and my recent college grad discount would be awesome.

I work for Sears and they deal with FORD...so THANKS for reminding me about this. I knew about a discount with FORD but I forgot that FORD owns Mazda...so it's called the S plan huh...

One last question...does the plan work for a used car? Let's say they have an 04 slightly used would it help you get a discount? I don't think it would but I thought I'd ask...

Well since 04's are cheap anyway now, S-plan wouldn't have any affect. Better off just getting a good deal. S-plan is a set amount below the MSRP, usually close to the dealer cost. Being slightly used only reiterates this.

I think it has to be brand new.
