Market value of 05 RX8
 

I'm on the West Coast, and selling my 2005 RX. What are new '05s actually getting sold for, and what are used '05s selling for? (It's hard to tell from Auto Trader with such a new vehicle. KBB says 27,000 private party for a 2004, which is pretty hard to believe).

Hi, I'm also on the West coast (L.A.), I'm selling my 02 Mustang GT because I want to buy a red or grey 05 RX-8 GT, I talk to a dealer and they where offering a brand new 05 with $5,000 off MSRP, or about $26.5k+tax, I'm assuming that is a good deal. Now I just need to find a buyer :(

Yes, Long Beach Mazda, $5000 off from MSRP for any RX-8 in stock, that is exaclty what the manager said, the only restriction seems to be that you have to let them finance the car with one of their banks. This offer was published in the newspaper few weeks ago, but I don't know if they are still offering it.

I was going to get a based RX-8, MSRP was about $27k, $22k after the discount, and about $24k after tax and license. In order to qualify for the rebate I had to finance with one of their banks, we where going to do the deal, but they offered very little money for my trade in, so I walk out. Now that I sold my Stang outside, I'll go back in a couple of weeks, and hopefully they will still have the deal available.

They didn't stop me when I tried to walk out, that means that was probably their bottom price :D

Let me know how it goes, I may realistically be shopping for an 8 very soon. =)

How much are you planning to put down?

Well, I have $10k available, but I still owe my Mazda SUV, so I can use the $10k for my SUV and have it paid off, or I can use them for the RX-8, I still need to make some calculations. If I use the $10k to pay off my SUV then I'm gonna have to get the 8 with 0 down :rolleyes:

Picking up an 8 w/$0 down isn't unheard of, is it? My credit isn't quite at "excellent" yet, but it's very close. I'm thinking of waiting until I pay down some more bills first to get it over that 720 hump before I buy. :(

Well, I just DID IT, I got a 2005 Red RX-8 GT on Saturday 6/18/05 :D :D :D

I sold my 02 Mustang GT outside instead of trade-in. Besides, I went to my Credit Union and got pre-approved for up to $40k at 3.99% :cool: ( www.fpcu.org ), is nice to have good credit and a good credit union.

This the way it went:
I called Long Beach Mazda and asked them about the $5000 off MSRP, they said they are still offering that. But after checking the inventory the sells man couldn’t find an RX-8 the way I wanted it. Their inventory is very limited.

Cerritos Mazda has a pretty big inventory, so I went there, they treat me really nice, found the car the way I wanted and started the negotiations. I specified NO-TRADE-IN, they said OK. I said I wanted to use the 3.99% pre-approval I had from my CU, they said it was OK. The problem started when I asked them to match the $5000 off MSRP from Long Beach Mazda. After going back and forth for a while, they gave me $4000 off MSRP. So I got a RX-8 GT package with MSRP of $31685 for $27685+tax+license, I will finance with my Credit Union for 3.99% APR for 60 months, no down payment, for a monthly payment around ~$550 :D

After we agreed the price, I gave them the Gerber cash back certificate. :eek:

Long Beach Mazda still offers $5k off MSRP, but you have to finace through them, and very likely it would be a high APR, no matter you credit history. The trick is to recover some money through your interest payments..

I think it was a good deal, I don't know if they made some money, but they surely gained a costumer, because I will buy more cars from them, probably the next Tribute or CX-7 (yes CX-7). Besides I will recomendem to friends and relatives.

Yes, 2005, build date is November 2004 right of the door sticker :D . As far as I know the 2005 model year started on august or september 2004.

Besides, all the paper work is about 2005 model.

ohhh, I thought you were talking about a base 8. The GT's have huge mark-ups and if it is a november 04 build date then its been sitting on their lot for quite some time, probably all winter. How many miles were on her?

to be honest, I rather get exactly what I want then take leftovers. I mean you are buying the car not leasing so I'd spend the extra couple grand for one off the truck.

Yes, Red 2005 RX-8 with GT package, exactly the way I wanted it, 31 miles on it before driving it. For me, Leather and Sunroof are a must, so I really had to get the GT package. I could have waited for the next truck, but it was very unlikely to find the car exactly the way I want it, color and options, from the truck.

When I realized it was made on 11/04 I was surpriced. Long time sitting waiting for me, but the condition is like if it was just came out of the truck.

Winter is not bad here in California, actually should be less punishing than the hot summer we usually have. Our winter is around 45 F (no snow), and summer can be up to 95 F in L.A. area.

Yeah, the winters are sweet in cali. I'd move there in a second if it wasn't for those earthquakes.

I don't see how they could do that. Seriously. There are MAC incentives if you lease with MAC, but no known incentives for a purchase like that.

Invoce is $29,294 and hold back is about $548 and without any incetives that makes their "make nothing" price $28,746. They must be a charatable organization, since they lost $1,061 selling you the car :confused:

Good deal, but I don't see how they can do that.

"We lose money on every sale, but make it up in volume" must be their moto....

Good deal on the 8--I'm thinking about trying to do a deal this week on one. I checked Long Beach's inventory and they have one I would want, but that's 1000 miles away so I'm gonna see what I can work out here first.

Folks, remember that build date refers to when the car rolld off the assembly plant in Hiroshima, Japan. Factor in trucking from factory to Japan port->shipping across the pacific-> trucking from US port to the dealer and the actual dealer "sitting time" would be much less. I got a Shinka 4/28/05 with only 11 total miles in it but a build date of 11/04 also. The way the car looked when i got it I could have sworn it's got virgin seats :D

Anyway, 1 car payment to date and look what i got in it already. Sigh, this car is driving my bank savings to the ground but I love it!

Well, I guess because here I California they have a lot of competition, they need to give some good deals.

California is nice, but it would be nicer if it wasn't this crowded, and houses were cheaper. Maybe I should move to Arizona or Nevada, maybe Texas :rolleyes:
