Invoice: Is advertising fee included?
I was quoted less than invoice on the car below. The problem is the dealers invoice price and Edmunds invoice do not match! Edmunds is $232 cheaper ($31,944) The dealer is in St. Petersburg Fl where they say they are charging group advertising fee which is why the invoice is higher than Edmunds. Can you tell me if your invoice quote had this extra added too and what you were told?
(The dealer did a copy and paste from his screen) GT package NV1 - NAVIGATION SYSTEM CDC - IN-DASH 6-DISC CD CHANGER CGN - CARGO NET RSW - REAR WING SPOILER 2AP - APPEARANCE PACKAGE 2RP - ROTARY ACCENT PACKAGE MSRP: $35,204.00 " Dealer Invoice: $32,176.00 |
forget all that, you can get it much lower than that...
I paid under $30 for GT + NAV. goto cars.com and fill out a spec sheet. the dealers will call. take the lowest bid and send it back out to the dealers...worked for me. |
i paid 400 over invoice last jan. you should do much better than that now. though you might not get just what you want. drop me an email and i can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the help!
It was all good in the end, $29500 for GT+Nav+App Package+Rotary Accent+Cargo Net |
Yeah, I predicted several months ago that Mazda would get desparate, and have no choice but to sell the cars for well below invoice because of the massive overstock. Even I didn't imagine it would get this bad, to point where they would sell for 2k+below invoice. You can bet your behind the 05 rx8 is going to be much less produced because mazda went way overboard with production of the 04 model. They will still make a lot of 05 models, but I am sure it will be more rare. Nice job on the $29500 deal. Makes my at invoice deal in February look like I got ripped off.

Just signed tonight for $28850 on a $30081 invoice car (not including some kick-plates I got thrown in, probably around $60-$120 invoice?). Definitely some good deals to be had.
About the advertising fee (from another post of mine): It goes into a pool for the dealer to spend on ads. It is something that you can apparently negotiate, but my friend [who did car sales for over 7 years and was telling me about this] made it a point that that's not something he would negotiate on if he were making the sale.
