Your best warranty is a heavily padded bank account.
IMHO non-manufacturer warranties are a sham for the most part. I'll never buy one. Read all of the fine print before you make a decision. I think you'd be better off setting up a savings account and putting the $3k the warranty would cost in it and save it for a rainy day. |
I have performed extensive due diligent on MECHANICAL REPAIR INSURANCE POLICY.
I bought one for my 04 RX through my credit union that incredible, the list of repairs they coveredwas amazing to say the lease. (Virijinia Surety Company, Inc) Equally good was/is Warranty Direct. I would have purchased a policy for my 2011RX from themif I did not get the MEPP through Mazda. Stay away from Direct buy and best warranty, they have wiggle clauses to avoid paying for covered repairs. PM me if you would like to review the contract from VSC, |
Another option is to set aside a savings account for future maintenance issues. This is just an option, but not the answer to your question. Anyway, you should search around for private auto insurance and ask questions about their warranty clauses and get quotes too, good luck.

And this is where I think people run into problems... They don't fully understand the contract they buy. They listen to the salesman who doesn't exactly lay it all out, and don't do their own diligence. As long as you understand EXACTLY what is and is not covered, and understand all of the other details EXACTLY, aftermarket warranties can be incredibly helpful. Of course, a large bank account is better. But not many actually have that option. |
