I am also interested in what people are paying for their RX-8. I am planning to buy one in a month or so - looking for a 2005, six-speed, no options, and purchase price and loan information would be very useful.

Bought a base 6 speed with 4K miles a year ago for 23K. I now know I paid too much but it's been worth it; just to bug a co-worker.

TRU681 10-21-2005 06:38 PM

I got mine for 38k in August,2003. Should of waited till the markups were gone but oh well, I'm still satified even though I paid too much for it..

After 2 years of going crazy over this car, finally bought it!

I joined this forum like 2 years ago, and since then I've been crazy about this car. I test drove one when it came out, and also last year when the 2005s came out, but I just didn't feel it was the right time for me (was about to graduate from college, started a new job, then had a baby on the way, etc). In hindsight, I wish I had bought it sooner, but I don't have any regrets. Recently I figured it was time to stop driving that beat up old '96 Civic I've been driving for the past 4 years.

As far as the deal is concerned, I went in there with a mindset of how much I was going to pay, and ended up getting what I thought was an even better deal. I had my S-Plan pin in hand and was expecting to pay $2500 below the S-Plan price after the rebates. I was expecting to buy an MT GT with spoiler, and appearance package. They didn't have one with a spoiler, and the only MT GT with an appearance package they had also came with that spare tire kit. To make a long story short, I ended up getting the car for about $3000 below S-Plan. The car had 13 miles on it too, and was in the show room, which made me even happier. I guess as long as you go into the deal knowing how much the car's worth, and what you're willing to pay, you'll walk out with a good deal.

I think the deal was pretty fair, and I'm very happy with the car. Having loads of fun driving it. I was very pleased with how I was treated at the dealership, and I guess they deserve a plug (Star Mazda/Subaru in Orlando, formerly Classic Mazda Motorcars). I'll most likely buy all of my Mazdas/Subarus from these folks in the years to come.

Here are the details:
MT GT Winning Blue Metallic, spare tire kit, cargo net, appearance package, rotary accent package

Good luck with your hunt!

Picked mine up today...

Got a 2005 AT, Sport, Cargo net and Organizer, and spoiler.... list was $28,380... I paid $21,380 plus tax etc.

D Baize 10-24-2005 05:33 PM

Listed fro 34.6K, for fully loaded with nav. Paid 32.5 cash.

Scrapula 10-25-2005 08:02 AM

I haven't bought one yet. I test drove back in April, but decided to wait for year-end incentives. Right now, they are offering $2K under sticker plus $2,500 in rebates. There's plenty of 2005's left, so I'm going to see if there are any additional incentives in November.

I still have a 1.5 years left of pharmacy school, but this would make my 50 mile commute to school so much more enjoyable.

lovinmy05 10-25-2005 11:10 AM

well i got mine in june sticker price was 27.6k for a MT GT accent package. i walked out 4 hrs later at 21.9k and i love my car can't wait to get back home to it

djseto 10-25-2005 12:39 PM

New 04 w/ 6 speed GT, Nav, Accent, Appearance...loaded -- sticker was $35K something. Paid $29K

Gerael 10-25-2005 01:50 PM

wow djseto good deal.. how'd you manage that?
29k out the door?

Slick8 10-25-2005 02:04 PM

04 GT with everything except Nav. Paid $28.5K with S-plan and $500 new grad rebate (about the only thing good I got from graduate school). $30k with tax and the rest...

Gerael 10-25-2005 02:36 PM

They said i didn't have my diploma yet so i couldn't fill out the rebate...

is it too late to do it now?

Bastage 10-25-2005 04:55 PM

Forget the 2k under sticker offer, unless that's at or below invoice

Anything above invoice right now for an '05 is a bad deal, at least in central Florida.

VASasha 10-26-2005 06:41 AM

Just bought mine this Saturday. '04 GT with 9k miles. KBB said it was worth 28.5k, i got it for 24.5.

I am also waiting for the year-end incentives and the prospect that lots of 2005s will be left toward the end of the year with salespeople eager to get rid of stock, particularly when the cold and snow hits us here in the beautiful Northwest. Where are you finding $2,000 under sticker and $2,500 cash back?

I'm in Florida. In this area Mazda has a $1,500 rebate, plus another $1,000 if you finance with MAC. The $2,000 under sticker is average for the area. When I did a search on Mazda's web site, it showed 81 6-speeds still available within 50 miles of my zip code. A dealer in St. Petersburg is selling the automatics for even less, a total of $6,000 off. I'm hoping for the same thing to happen with the MT cars.

My 2002 Focus is actually appreciating in value as people are switching to fuel efficient cars. Right now, I have about $2,500 in equity towards my trade.
