Is this a good deal? Help asap

Hey I found an the 8 I'm looking for. Not sure if its a good deal or not though. 04 Black 6sp GT red/black leather with appearance package, spoiler, rotary accents and Mazda chrome wheels. Asking price is 27,900. The only fee the dealership has is the doc fee of $399. All tax title and licensing is done in the state I'm registering it in. The only thing is that its used...it has 2800 miles on it. I seriously looking at getting this car...it has all the options I wanted but, I just want to get a good deal. Thanks for your help.

Invoice on a new '04 with the same options, but without the wheel upgrade (I don't know the price of this), would be around $30,100. Minus the $1500 rebate for the new car, it would be around $28,600. So, assuming you could get an '04 at invoice (should not be too difficult at the end of December), you could have a new car for $700 more. You could use this as leverage to get the price dropped for the used car if you really wanted it.

I'm going to the dealer today....let's see...

Cool...hopefully its a good deal. I would like to buy the car because it has all the options and accessories I want. Living here in Germany..its hard to get those extra bulky things here because most places won't ship bulky things to military APO addresses. I'll be waiting.

That sounds like a darn good deal to me. I didn't haggle with the dealer as I got the S-plan price 'cause I work for a supplier to FoMoCo. I got a car equipped much like you listed and my price was about the same. I'd jump on it were I you.

So even though this is a used vehicle its still a good deal?

fredw1 12-05-2004 07:18 PM

It is if that's the car you want. Like I said, you could get a new one for less than a thousand dollars more.

Ok, well now he came down 1000 dollars. So its 27k and 27399 out the door. I'm exempt on sales tax right now...buying out of state. I checked kbb and adding all the options it had...minus the appearance package, which I don't know how to add, I came 23740 for trade-in value. Is this a good number to up from? I'm thinking about offering 25399 out the door. What do you guys think? A friend of mine in the business says there is no way of telling how much the dealer paid for a used car. She says they could have given him the trade in value or just bought the car at an auction...there's no telling.
The dealers internet selling price is now $27900 which was not listed a few weeks ago. He told me at the time that he was listing it as 28900 but would sell it to me for 27900. Now he is showing it as 27900 a few weeks later. Maybe the car has been there a while. I want to make a deal but, the car is "Used with 2800 miles" and I just want a fair price.
