dealing with liars

I use e mail and to get quotes from dealers. found one for 23700 at Furguson in Oklahoma city. got there and they said i had to do the finacing with Mazad to get a #1000 off. part of price. during the signing , i asked for mazda to be used. lady refussed to do that and said i could get better interest with a bank. she never said i didnt have to have credit life (785) nor did she say i didnt have to have GAP insurance (600). there was a amount paid to other on behaf of buyer of 1534. my car had a pay off of 5077. the total amount was 22106.
i got online and got loan in one day from captial one at 5.65 interest. furguson wanted 5.95.
i got on the phone and told the saleman it was not acceptable. told him why. also confronted him as to why he quoted to me and wife my car would get 9500 when it only got 9300. i let him know i was unhappy with him and the lady. then i asked for a cash price.
later that day i got call from lady. after i listened to her line of BS i told give me a a cash price. she put me on hold for short time . came back with 21311.19. i let my voice say i was not impressed and told her i would think about it. let her call me back with price of 20711 which i accepted . RX8 6 speed

I read it twice. I kinda understand, but not really. What was the lie? the trade in price for your other car? or sticker of the new one?

replie

one, the trade in on car. two the credit life. three the need for GAP. four the refusal to go with mazda credit. and five that they gave me the best interest rate. i dont like getting worked. the biggest was being forced to sign up for stuff that should have been spelled out by dealer

In my world (age 60) your word is your bond. i have made many deals on a hand shake. i have paid up when my end didnt go right. i have had others paid up when their deal didnt go right. this might sound old fashion but it ran this country for many years

I tried to follow this, but am not sure about the lies (not that some car dealers couldn't fill a book with them). Certainly, there are things they may not have told you (life and gap insurance), but a car dealer's job is to sell you everything they can at the highest price they can get. Once I came to that realization, then I knew i needed to question everything before I signed anything. I also realized that most dealers have amnesia when it comes to remembering what they told you on the phone to get you to come in. I think they would call this "selective memory" as opposed to "lie. " Just as in any battle, it pays to know your adversary and their tricks.

Glad things worked out.
