Before buying your 2004 model...

Since the salesman doesnt know what has been done to your car, get the VIN from him.

Then, call the Service Manager, not just any service guy, and say, "hey I was about to purchase one of your cars, can you look up the service records for that car?" He will even tell you the build date.

Be nice and say you just want to make sure the recalls have been performed (if applicable).

I just found out that the car I WAS going to buy had both recalls performed but not the required re-flash.

On the QT, the manager said he wouldn't buy a car with a build date over a year old. Hmmm....

Making my decision to order an 05 easier.

these are good tips, i got lucky on my purchase since my car has a late build date and only had 5 miles on it before the move from Maryland (only 54 afterwards)

btw valpac, the fax worked great and my dealer was very professional.... i'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you, i'm just shocked that they threw you out which is insane

just ask them to open the driver side door - the door jam shows the build date info.

I agree, unless you get a major discount, I don't see why you'd buy anything built before 2004.

valpac 08-04-2004 06:34 PM

Yeah, could get the build date that way Jason, But I don't trust the salesmen to get THAT right.

Glad to hear it, snizzle. It's ok about the car. Since I have the S-plan to use, I just ordered an 05 just the way I want it. Not gonna get the big (if you can call $800 , big) discount, but the car will be just the way I want, and I dont have to wrestle with the dealer on TSB's.

Enjoy your new ride!

Are the prices out for 2005 model yet?

Vamp 08-08-2004 12:07 PM

What's new in the 2005 model?

valpac 08-11-2004 08:04 PM

No prices yet, but the salesman said about 2% increase should be expected but not much more than that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

There are few changes for the 05, no more Yellow color and a new White color. Optional Satellite radio will be available. Also, a new "square" ignition key (whoopee!)
