3rd tTime was a charm - long

I first ordered my yellow RX-8 from a dealership in Vienna, VA in April. My "salesman" was new a very unsure of himself, but took my $500 refundable deposit and ordered it. I periodically called him for updates. He was never available or returned my calls.

I was not happy, so I orded a second car (same terms) from a much more professional salesman in Richmond, VA.

After many lies and brush offs at all levelsat he first dealership, I discovered THE CAR WAS NEVER ORDERED. I cancelled the order.

Meanwhile, I was getting updates from Mazda about the second ordered RX-8. I found out on August 1st that my car was still in Japan. I figured it would be October before I would get it.

Then I saw an ad on Ebay from a dealer in Little Rock, Arkansas. He claimed to have 2 yellows. I called and, indeed, he did. He would sell me the car at $400 below list to subsidize travel. I bought it with a non-refundable $500 deposit sight unseen. We flew out last weekend, picked up the car - exactly as described with 12 miles on the odometer. We spent the weekend driving it back to Virginia. I figure, with motel and flight costs for 2, I paid about $200 over list in the end.

The salesman was totally honest and professional. He picked us up at the airport and couldn't have been nicer. The dealership did not attempt to sell us all kinds of ripoff gimmicks to gouge us either. The only option offered, but not at all in any pushy way, was an extended warranty. We declined and that was it.

Now for the kicker for all you out there. They are supposed to get 30 more RX-8s in the next month. The dealership is Parkway Mazda at (888) 307-9505 or (501) 217-9500. The salesman is Ronnie W. Stover at (501) 612-1056/cell. I have no financial stake in recommending him - no referral fee, but I could not recommend the dealer and salesman more highly. It was actually the best car buying experience I've had.:)

Yikes...just out of curiosity, which dealer in Richmond did you have the problem with? I went through Capitol, and after a few calls back and forth to make them enter my info in the pre-order system, everything was fine. Picked it up Saturday, got a great APR from them, no hassles, and was in and out in about an hour.

I had a horrible experience with Whitten Brothers, but others here had no problem with them.

Glad you got the car you wanted.

The dealership is Capitol. I did not really have any problem with them though. The problem was Mazdas slow shipping.

The dealership in Vienna is the one that really sucks.
