2nd boat has docked at JAX.

Good news for me and other Jacksonville port of entry people.

My "dealer" has advised me that my car's status has changed to "at-port". Should be a couple of weeks away now. :D

roachman 07-21-2003 03:03 PM

Yep, Got the email from my dealer this morning as well. He said the Mazda rep was pushing to get it to the dealer by Friday....

It just got into port JAX, when do u think they will release it to the dealershiP? and how long on average does it take to get there?

Good Duck 07-21-2003 03:19 PM

We were in the same boat, literally. Now it's time you change your sig from "In Transit".

Friday? That's pretty optimistic if you ask me. For our sake, I hope so. I'm expecting about about 7-10 days with all the port options and delivery. And I'm think I'm optimistic. :D

TybeeRX-8 07-21-2003 03:56 PM

Any idea when the second boat left Japan? My car was shown as "on the water" two weeks ago, but the dealer tells me "the last week in August". Mazda Orders said 3-8 weeks after it was first "on the water"

That is optimistic. Mine has been list as "at port" since late June...and still no car.

Hopefully, your delay will not be as long as most of ours has been.

Good luck!

RotoRooter 07-21-2003 06:38 PM

Confirmed by Ibfubar . . . we are at Port since July 18th. I would expect a range for delivery from:

Best Case Scenario 7/25/03
Worst Case Scenario 8/18/03
Most Likely 8/1/03 - 8/4/03

brothervoodoo 07-21-2003 06:45 PM

Hello Guys,

FYI: my car has been showing Status 30 since 6/27, still showing the same as of today. My car has been at Port Heuneme this whole time, to be released to dealer in the west coast.

I hope you guys have a quicker turn around than I've been experiencing..

RotoRooter 07-21-2003 07:03 PM

We certainly hope you get your car ASAP. I would not feel right unless, you got yours before us. I believe in waiting my turn in line, no cutting, no jumping.

If we use you as the worst case scenario, we be waiting until 8/18. I hope not, but I guess we should expect anything. My personal hope is 1st week August.

NOT ME! I have no sympathy for a west coaster that ordered his car on 5/04/03. I ordered mine in January. Make him wait his turn, AFTER ME! ;)

RotoRooter 07-21-2003 10:16 PM

I did not realize he was a line cutter (5/4/03 order of a 1st allo) If this is the case, best of luck buddy . . . be happy you're getting yours in the summertime :)

thanks for pointing that out

:) You guys crack me up...

True, I did order in May and was given a pre-order listed 2/19.. But hey, my car (like many) is in port and I'm wondering what the heck is the hold-up!!

Anyways, I was just saying, I hope you guys will not be stuck 3-4 weeks at the Jacksonville port... Hopefully they sort all this mess out soon and the pre-orders start seeing their cars in larger volume..

(My what sour grapes coming from my Floridian forum peers) :D  ;)

RotoRooter 07-22-2003 01:29 PM

Sour grapes indeed . . .

BTW, I see you got the grey with the black/brown leather (I wanted this, but my wife wanted the more sporty red/black) I think yours is going to be the most refined, luxury look for this car. Can't wait to get pics. Good choice.

Going through the forum I found out the quickest port-dealer time was 6/27 - 7/11 (14days). Most ranged from 17-21 days. This is ridiculous lag time, but if we use this as a guide:

Delivery: 8/1 - 8/4
(just a more educated guess -- the dealer claims this week, Monday by the latest, we will see.)

RXg8tor 07-22-2003 06:45 PM

I'm going on 1 month....at port JAX on first boat....still no car
Hell, I'm only about 4 hours south!

Emsdad 07-22-2003 09:16 PM

How is everyone seeing where their cars are?

I see everyone saying "on the water" or "at port"...I have a my VIN, but I do not have any idea how to find out any other information.

BTW how long after the "thank you for your order" e-mail did everyone get their book, and coffee cups, etc.?

Curiosity is killing me, my dealer has been pretty good to me, but I don't think he knows everything.

I'll remember that one! So when your car comes before Voodoo's, then I'll expect you to leave it on the lot until he confirmes delivery of his car.

Ha... that will never happen... RotoRooter will be living in it as soon as it arrives. :p

RotoRooter 07-23-2003 11:35 AM

After I buy this car in cash, I will have to live in it!!!!!!!!

I don't feel bad getting mine before Voodoo now, since I found out he ordered his in May. He was smart to get in on the pre-orders, but I won't feel bad since my wait is at 6months now.

I still do feel really bad for those guys with VINs less than 1000, who ordered 1/8/02, who were on lists before that at dealers, who have helped so many people out on the forum with their great posts, who still do not have their car. Honest to God, I think it is wrong that anyone get theirs before these guys -- especially non-inventory.

Well, sometimes ignorance is bliss! It seems many "Johnny come lately's" can start picking up cars before the rest of the enthusiasts. Don't know what the hold-up is, but if this was a Mazda directive to first ship the dealer allocated cars over pre-orders.... well then, that just blows..

rxtreme 07-23-2003 02:01 PM

If someone knows when this 2nd allocation leaves/has left JAX and started their trek towards their respective dealers, please let us all know.

I hope I don't have to wait that long. Mine just got here. I'm only about 2.5 - 3 hours south. (BTW, 4 hours to Ft. Myers? You drive fast. :D ) It's too bad we can't go up and pick up our own damn cars. Mazda should allow us to eliminate the middle man (our dealers) who do not have a clue, and sell us the car slightly over invoice. :D
