2008 40th AE RX-8

Hey, I know this obviously isn't a very professional first post, but I have to start somewhere, and i may as well know the value or a car before i attempt to purchase it...
At a local dealer there is a 2008 40th Anniversary Edition Rx-8 with 113xx miles with $24,998 on the sticker.
What do you guys think would be a good target price to talk this guy down to? Currently the car has been sitting there since late 2008, it was previously leased by one person, and has a check engine light.
Obviously i would have the CEL taken care of before purchase, but all other things considered what would be a good price to attempt to work down to?

Thanks for your thoughts,
Jim

EDIT: also, what are common issues to look for on these cars? certain maintenance records i should be looking for? body issues (i.e. honda cancer), or anything else of that nature? Basically i'm looking for any bargaining chips i could use to negotiate down the price.

I read that wrong. I thought you said that there were over 113k miles on the car already!!!

Anyways, you can get 2010's for cheaper. Search around, but I'm sure you can get under $21k for this car, especially with a CEL (what is the CEL showing?)

IMHO, why look at a car that is way overpriced and has a questionable predictament ( CEL on ). I would buy it at around 18k, otherwise go for a used 2009. 2009 is SII. You could get a mid mileage 2009 Sport for 18k.
Very very few people will see the 40th AE as a desireable.
So dont make this badge be your emotional drive to buy. The answer is in your post....been sitting on the lot for a long time.......
