That's cool - prices only went up a little bit.

Kills me that it's $200 EXTRA for white paint. They'll get it, too!

yeah, its pretty stupid. when you think about it though, when paying close to $27,000 for a car, an extra 200 bucks isn't gonna break the bank. its not gonna make your payment shoot skyward or anything. not a big deal.

I'm currently saving for the down payment on my RX8. I plan on buying in November.

Hmm, off those prices I would get:

$26,875 - 6-speed Manual Transmission.
$2,975 - MT Touring Package
$2,000 - Navigation System

$31, 850 MSRP

I wonder how much I can get them down to for new 05's? I plan to put $6-7,000 down (~20%) and finance the rest for 60 months. If I could get that in the 29k I would be pleased. If not, I may have to knock off the navigation.

Any clue of when mazda's webpage will include the remaining 05 lineup? I sure hope by November all the various sources of invoice price listings will be available so I can use them in part of my purchasing.

If I was buying now, unless I was looking for the white car (I wouldnt) I would get an 04. Same car, lower insurance :D

Plus the 05's should be driving the 04's all down to invoice or below right?

It would be awesome to get an 04 at an amazingly low price b/c dealers are pushing them, but I'm just wondering what my chances will be of 2004 still on the lot in November. I'm thinking they'll be all gone by then.

I saw a White 2005 RX-8 today at the Anaheim Mazda dealer.

It is definitely a pearl white paintjob. I don't like White, and didn't like it on the 8 at all, but if you DO like White, this paint is definitely high quality. It is a metallic, and seemed to very slightly change hue at different angles. The clueless salesman had no idea when they would get any more 05's in.

Anyway, glad to see the price for 05's haven't gone up much, since that is what I am waiting for.

only changes are the color(white)....the key fob......available sirus radio.....thats it........u can get a under invoice deal....on an 04...and keep your eyes open for next week or week after.....i think mazda is going to offer rebates to move the 04 rx-8, because there are so many on dealer lots........ plus a below invoice deal u can steal one...............

Below dealer invoice on the 04 model is not a problem. Where I live in PA, they are going for up to 1k below invoice, and 500 below on every model. This part of country is majorly overstocked with the 04 rx8, and they have no choice but to knock them way down. The 05 will have super deals as well, and no one should be paying near msrp for one, as long as dealer has gotten rid of their 04 model. The demand will be low on the 05 once the 04 is gone, so deals on the 05 are in the very near future.

Is there anyone in So Cal that has been able to get an RX-8 for at, or below, invoice?

It seems that all these posts about people getting these great deals on new 8's (below invoice) are somewhere other than So Cal. My guess is that demand is higher here, so the deals probably aren't quite as good.

Here in So. Calif., I think that you can get pretty close to invoice with haggling, perhaps even a few hundred below. Still, it appears that demand is greater so it's harder to do. I noticed today that CarsDirect, through which I got my 8 a couple of weeks ago, has actually raised its price from $350 over invoice to $600 over, which tells me that the dealer competition is also getting away with higher prices.

Interesting.

I will probably give carsdirect.com a shot before I purchase my 8 just to see what I get.

CarsDirect is a very good service, and some of their prices fall near or even well below invoice. For example, the BMW Z4 with the 3.0 liter engine in my area (West L.A.) is over $5,000 below invoice. Check them out for Riverside, and although you most likely won't get that good of a deal on the RX-8, at least you'll have a good price comparison. If you do go with them, there's a lot to be said for not wasting an entire weekend haggling with dealers and having some control over the ball.
