Race in February (2010)

Oh snap! It's actually time for a legit one of these again! And... for some reason, there's actually a LOT of events! The first of the Novice schools is this month. Going off last year, BSCC will do 2, SCCA will do 1 and then you'll be stuck going to regular events and practice days. Registration for the BSCC school is through Motorsportsreg.com, see the link below.

I'll try and keep up with who plans on attending what event. If it's too much of a pain in the ass, I'll stop. Regardless of if I update the Members planning on attending lists, we can use this thread to organize meeting up to go to an event etc. as well. The Tacoma Mall Krispy Kreme has worked out pretty well for Bremerton based events. Southcenter Mall would work out better for Packwood events for those going ass early. Click the location link for directions to any of the sites. For PR, click the directions link on their site (it's in Java so I can't link straight to it).

Membership Requirements:
  • Alfa Events: No Membership Required
  • BEAC Events: Must be a Boeing Employee
  • BSCC Events: Must be a BSCC Member [$20 Membership]
  • Porsche Pacific Northwest Events: Schools - Porsche Club Sponsor or Membership in one of the following clubs: PCA, Alfa, Audi, BMWCCA, BSCC, Corvette, Mini, Viper, or PDC club member
  • Proformance Racing School: Must be a client for all non-school events, going to a school makes you a client, or be a member of the Alfa or Porsche clubs.
  • NWR SCCA Events: Membership Required [$10 Weekend memberships available on site, full memberships available online for $45 or $60, up to 3 weekend memberships can count towards a full one]
  • SCCA Oregon Region Events: Membership Required [$10 Weekend memberships available on site, full time memberships must be Dual Region]
  • WWSCC - No Membership Required (I think)

Pre-registration varies from Event to Event. Pre-Registration is always cheaper, sometimes required, but not always available more than 2 weeks before the event. Always check the link for a given event.

Remember to Bring:
  • Oil - During the lapping days you can burn as much as a quart! Autocross days are less, but it's still worth topping off at the beginning of the event
  • Sunblock - Especially for the autocross events where you'll spend half the time working the course
  • Water - No matter what the event, it's going to be hot in your helmet and car
  • Helmet (If you have one that meets the requirements) - All clubs require a helmet, some will lend you one in exchange for your license, others will charge you money to rent one. Helmet Requirements (always double check the club's listing!):
    • AutoX - Snell Approved M2000 or higher
    • Lapping - Snell Approved SA2005 or higher
  • Cash - At almost all Bremerton events, the local Lions Club will show up and serve cheap burgers, hot dogs and Philly Cheese Steaks but they're cash only
  • Your Checkbook - All autocross events that involve timing equipment have a rule: If you car touches the timing equipment, it's a $100 fine payable on the spot. You can sometimes run and pick up money from an ATM down the street but it's easier if you have your checkbook handy.
    • Don't be intimidated by this, in reality, it's very rare. The club doesn't WANT this to happen, so they setup the course to try and prevent it from happening
  • Gas
    • AutoX - 1/2 tank or more
    • AutoX Practice - Full tank
    • School - Full Tank
    • Lapping - Full Tank

ooh fun! i just got some new tires mounted on the rpf1s this week too. ;)

no pacific raceways events yet i assume?

Anijo 01-31-2010 01:52 AM

None that I could find, actually I can't find any for March either. NWR SCCA has posted their full schedule but BSCC only has their first practice posted. Like I said in the OP though, Michele says there's going to be a Novice school soon, not sure when though. Alfa has their first school in March but it's Bremerton. Pacific's site says their 2010 schedule hasn't been defined yet, so it's gonna be a while before we know.

Also... I know the moment I switch back to summer tires, it's going to snow

Proformance might have some track days. They have several scheduled next week, and they'll pick the day based on interest and weather.

Anijo 02-02-2010 11:03 PM

Feb 14 practice day: Registration isn't open yet, I'll post when it opens.

dondo 02-02-2010 11:53 PM

^ k thanks

Anijo 02-03-2010 01:29 AM

The BSCC Novice School has been posted, 2/28. No registration link yet, but last time it was limited to 50 entrants and done through motorsports reg rather than the normal autorosskeeper which means you have to pay when you sign up.

Mike, I think your car will qualify for CSP on those tires... and it might even be competitive in this region :D:

tell me more.. :wink2:

Anijo 02-03-2010 11:49 AM

CSP is C Street Prepared, and I think you can even go FI in that class :D: We don't have very many people running in *SP in this region and I don't know if any of them have done significant power mods. Here're the results from this class in the last 2009 SCCA event: http://www.wwscc.org/event_results/2...ca-08.html#NS2

I will not be able to make it. I think I might be out of a job again, so I'll be off the track untill I can find other employment (I really want to go though :) )

It runs $260 for the day, and since it's your first time with them, you'll need to hire an instructor for two 25 minute sessions, which costs an additional $125. It's a little more money than Alfa, but with the extra time on the track, it makes it worth it.

I really think you should give Proformance a try. I think you get a lot more track time (on a normal lapping day, you're out every half hour,) and there are more days offered. They even have a powerlunch deal when they have the school programs, it's $125 for a solid hour of driving at 12:30 (the students are not on the track with you during the powerlunch drive.) The lotus costs $200 for a 25 minute session.

hmm wouldn't that be funny if my mods kicked me out of being competitive in bstock but made the car competitive somewhere else on accident. ;) i may need some nick schooling on csp rules..

^ i'm definitely doing that. probs have to do the instructor and all the firs though, huh?

is there any way to waive that part?

Anijo 02-03-2010 08:46 PM

We're actually a C Stock car now. A stock was moved to B and B to C, creating a new A stock from former Super Stock cars (Base C5, M3 and a few others). The main thing that would make you competitive in CSP is the tires, it's an R-Comp class.
