looking for a dd so i can tear the FD down to the frame. im contemplating getting a FE. which models and what years have turbo's? Are there any special editions or rare ones i should be on the look out for?

Ok....I'm done laughing. There is no Rx-8 that has a turbo from the factory. Unless you buy one from a private seller that bought and got one tuned on his car, you're not getting one. There are SC and TC's available for the car but you need to get it professionally tuned.

The only "rare" ones are shinkas and 40th anniversary edition cars which just have different paint codes on the exterior and interior. That's the only difference. From '04-'08 they're all the same practically speaking. '09 engines have an extra oil injector and higher oil pressure. The '09 R3 model has sports suspension and rim upgrades. That's about it.

 

LOL.... hey the FD came stock with TT so i didn't think they would change THAT much when coming out with the FE..... tried to do some research and could not find any thing so i figured i must have been missing something.. well i guess not....

The only problem im really havin with the FE is the stereo sys. its kind of hard to customize the deck and other things with a set up they have. i mean is there any thing that can be done with that?

 

Yeah, you can get whatever you want. You'll just have to make your own faceplate for it.

 

Metra kit - Google it. Best thing on the market for changing out the stock stereo.

FD - 3rd Gen RX7

People more commonly use the Japanese chassis code and refer to the car as an SE3P...

here is a Vin from CL. JM1FE173350158468 FE is the designation in the Vin. i have never looked at a Japanese code before sorry....... my RX7 has JM1FD or as some part sites have it listed as FD3S. thats all.

 

+1 on the Metra kit, Car Toys even carries them now.

Also, yah... all RX-8's came from the factory NA.
