Me too, It would be cool to meet you guys. I am addicted to my 8 and cat stop driving it!!

e46328 01-19-2004 03:47 PM

Just picked up my 6sp GT. black, black/red int. w/ navi last saturday!!!
I traded in my 00 328I since it is out of warranty now :(
I only put a few hundred. Can't wait 'til I break her in.

Blue87Sport 01-19-2004 06:25 PM

Congrats, e46328. Enjoy your car.

Which dealer did you get it from and what kind of deal did you get?

e46328 01-19-2004 07:02 PM

I got it from University Mazda, Lee Johnson offered me the car that I wanted at invoice but they didn't offer me enough on my trade in so I decided to go w/ U-mazda for better out-the-door cost.
The price I got from U-Mazda is about 300 above invoice.

93rdcurrent 01-21-2004 02:18 PM

Ahh... A fellow bimmer fan turned to the RX-8. I traded in my M3. Let me know how much you are enjoying your new car.

e46328 01-21-2004 08:24 PM

Hello 93rdcurrent
M3's are nice, I wish I can get an E46 M3 but they are little too expensive for me.
I am driving my 8 easy since it's not broken in but I like it so far, it's pretty comfortable and easy to drive. Can't wait 'til I put on a couple of thousand miles so I can really 'drive':)

pp13bnos 01-21-2004 08:30 PM

This car just amazes me more and more every time I drive it. I mean, the car just craves corners! Its just such a nice car to play with. CJ

CCJ 01-22-2004 03:15 AM

I too, think a meeting of the PDX RXs would be great! Perhaps we can all post proposed run routes here and get some momentum going...

rex 01-22-2004 11:45 AM

OK, if you're looking for a nice road to enjoy the handling of your RX-8 here's a recommendation given to me by the guy who installed the Clear Bra on my car.

West of Portland on route 26 at Staleys Junction, WA take route 47 north towards Vernonia. The road starts out relatively straight but turns into a wonderful sequence of corners as it winds up and down some hills. About 20 or so miles into it, turn right on Apiary Road towards Apiary (of course!). you'll eventually intersect with route 30. This is a great road for exploring your car's handling, especially if you swap out your sway bars and really want to compare before and after performance.

This route is used as by logging trucks so you'll want to get past trucks whenever you can. Those twisties are awfully hard to safely overtake on. I hit 112mph overtaking one. The twisties are hard for cops to patrol, but watch your speed on the straights.

The first time I drove this route I was grinning so hard my face hurt!

zoom44 01-22-2004 04:10 PM

anyone here driving the black8 i saw in beaverton yesterday? on canyon road headed east but in the turning lane just before les schwab. i was going there to get my tires siped.

pp13bnos 01-22-2004 09:37 PM

If it was a black one with no rear wing, and Racing hart c2s on it, lowerd, it was a guy named Randall. He's in RPNW if you would like to meet him. CJ

Blue87Sport 01-29-2004 02:14 PM

Hey, you Oregon guys are starting to dominate this thread. Time to balance it out. :)

I picked up my Titanium Gray Touring model last night from University Mazda. I got an excellent deal on an awesome car.

So if you see a Gray RX-8 around southeast Seattle driven by a guy with an idiotic ear to ear grin, be sure to wave.:D

PP13BNOS, I wondered if you meant the car "carves" corners. I think you are right either way.

93rdcurrent 01-29-2004 02:54 PM

Blue87Sport,

Imagine how I feel. There are only a few of us over here on the Eastside that I have been able to figure out. So all you Westerners outnumber us by quite a bit. Other than myself there is one more person with a red RX-8 in the Couer d' Alene area that my wife has seen. I still have yet to run accross another owner in their car besides the one time I saw a dealer car out in downtown Spokane at night a couple of months ago. Maybe springtime will change that :) .

Oh yeah and congratulations.

pp13bnos 01-29-2004 09:16 PM

I'll be the first to admit I don't know how to spell. :D I meant, it just craves the corners. It wants them, it needs them, and loves them. Ok....I'm done now.

But it does carve them too. CJ

fxdsconv2000 01-29-2004 09:25 PM

There is at least 3 RX8's in the Boise area. I've seen one driving around (before I got mine) and one parked in a driveway.

rex 01-30-2004 12:36 AM

Welcome Blue87Sport! It'd be fun to see another '8 in the Seattle area. I've only see two others, a Ti and a Red. I look forward to trading grins :)

I got my Nordic Green at U. Mazda too. They were very easy to deal with, no sales tricks and they're still keen to help after the sale.

Blue87Sport 01-30-2004 02:14 PM

Thanks for the welcome. It's great to be driving an 8.

I've not seen a Green 8 on the road yet. I'll keep my eyes open for you (if I can get them off the tach!)

PP13NOS, I know exactly what you mean. I plan on feeding my 8 its Daily Minimum Requirement of curves. Got to keep it happy. Its definately keeping me happy.

rex 02-09-2004 08:22 PM

Ti-RX spotted in Redmond, WA

rex's co-pilot spotted a Titanium RX-8 stuck in traffic on route 202 near Redmond, WA. I was going in the opposite direction and only caught a glimpse otherwise I would have rolled my window down for a chat and stopped traffic in the other direction ;)

Anyone here have that Ti combo?

Later in Redmond a couple of girls were checking out my car. Turns out they were oggling my fender strakes. Well, those strakes are better looking than me! Ha, ha!

Rex to co-pilot: guess how fast we're going
co-pilot: Oh, 75 I guess
rex: Nope, 106. Ahhhh...I love interstates!

meladdin 02-10-2004 08:01 AM

I'm a lurker, but finally decided to represent.
Velocity Red, GT package with Borla exhaust. Purchased on August 6, 2003 from Royal Moore Mazda in Hillsboro.

Whenever I see another 8 I always give props. So if you see a Red 8 tap-high beaming you from the back or flashing the hazards from the front or sometimes a firendly rev from the borla...thats me!

CCJ 02-10-2004 09:45 AM

Meladdin - Welcome and hello. Your Red 8 wouldn't happen to be parked in Sullivan's Gulch would it? There a Red 8 that I see almost daily there. I'm crusing PDX in a Black GT.

Nope, I mainly cruise Hillsboro/Beaverton Area. Where's Sullivans gulch?
BTW, a silver 8 creeped up behind me on the 26 the other day. I flashed my hazards, he gave me a quick high beam and wave. It was kinda cool.

Thanks for the welcome.

CCJ 02-11-2004 06:30 AM

Sullinvan's Gulch is in the vicinity of the Lloyd Mall, near 21st & Multnomah. And you say you saw a Silver 8... Coulda been Zoom44.

ultrafit1 02-11-2004 10:04 PM

Are there any 8's in the Spokane area???????

zoom44 02-11-2004 10:21 PM

that's so funny! sullivan's gulch! hahah i lived over there until november when i moved to tigard. they had just started putting up those "sullivan's gulch" signs. i had no idea anyone was using that name yet! and it wasn't me on 26. but i can be found most days around beaverton as i work there. so between beaverton and tigard is where to find me usually.

CCJ 02-11-2004 11:35 PM

Okay Zoom now you know where to find me! :) I will be on the lookout for you this weekend - I have errands to run over by Washington Sq. Mall.
I have pondered the significance of your moniker "Zoom44" - would you care to share any insight as to the meaning? Just curious.

93rdcurrent 02-11-2004 11:39 PM

Ultrafit1,

I live in Spokane. I have a Ti Grey GT, Nav, and rear spoiler. Wave if you see me. I have felt like the only car in the area so far. I purchased mine on 10/20 and have only seen one 8 driving around the whole time and it had dealer plates. Anyway P/M me and we can chat. I am trying to get something going here in the area.

its a play on words- zoom filling in for "room" and 44 is "for four" so room for four people in the rx-8 turns into zoom44:D

it's also on my plates so when you do see a silver ,check the plates to know if its me or not!

CCJ 02-12-2004 08:25 AM

Very clever. I like it! Thank you for letting us in on the meaning.

DViOuS 02-13-2004 08:46 PM

Is this any board member?:

a Blue RX8 on the I405-SR520 junction come flying by with a wave yesterday (2/12). I didnt catch the plates, but that was the 1st blue RX8 i've actually seen on the move... and prolly the 2nd blue RX8 i've seen outside the dealerships... damn, that metalic on the blue looks so nice in the sunlight, originally my 1st preference... and it was bloody clean as well!!!

Hey Meladdin that was me. You are the first RX8 I have seen on the road other than myself. Just picked up my car 3 weeks ago from Vancouver Mazda. Was considering the red one as well, so was happy to see yours on road. Hope to see you again

triumphrider 03-01-2004 02:26 PM

Just checkin' in...

...from the booming metropolis (ha!) of Rochester, WA.

Blue87Sport 03-01-2004 03:34 PM

Congrats and welcome, Triumphrider!

Bet you got the only 8 in Rochester so far. :D

What color and options?Post a picture!

Get out there and enjoy your car. From your user name it sounds like you ride a bike too. Must be a tough choice which vehicle to take when the weather's nice.

zoom44 03-01-2004 08:13 PM

welcome Triumphrider!

rex 03-01-2004 08:19 PM

Welcome to the wonderful world of RX-8 ownership, Triumphrider :) It's good to have another convert, though I hope you kept your Triumph too!

triumphrider 03-01-2004 08:19 PM

Yep - only 1 in Rochester

I don't have any pics yet. It's red and pretty basic (6 speed, of course). It really is difficult to choose...bike or car...car or bike. I have an 01 Triumph Sprint ST (sport tourer - very competent in both regards).

triumphrider 03-01-2004 08:26 PM

I'm not a convert, Rex, as you may have figured out from my previous post. There's nothing like a motorcycle and a llllooooonnnngggg ride just like there's nothing like an RX8 and any ride at all. Vicki

Kathy Atkins 03-01-2004 09:18 PM

Hi just found you guys that to my best friend Judge Ito, Ordered my Red Rx8 Jan 28th,2003
Picked it up Sept 10th (Iwas out of town when she arrived. her nick name is Bella Rosa (beautiful Red in italian) Plate is *** RRR, As in Tim Allen's RRR
Guess that's for hubby's wheelie popping Rotary Lawnmower..

93rdcurrent 03-02-2004 02:46 AM

Congrats Kathy and welcome to our mostly humble forum. We look forward to hearing from you.

Spokane here also. New to the site. Work at Spokane Sunscreen in the valley tinting windows. Stop by.....say "HI"

93rdcurrent 03-11-2004 04:19 PM

wndotinter,

We are putting together a drive and food thing for April 18th. If your interested see the "First Beautiful Weather" thread in the NW forum. And welcome. What color did you get and what options?

wndotinter 03-11-2004 04:31 PM

Cool.....I'll be there. Sunlight Silver, 6 speed. Base model. Didn't care to spend the extra for appearance because that's one thing we do here at our shop, body kits, etc. Also didn't worry about stereo upgrades because I've got about $3000 in equipment that I can install in it.
I'll check out the thread and be there for sure.

e46328 03-11-2004 09:09 PM

Any one here w/ Titanium Gray w/ appearance & Spoiler in Redmond Area?
I think I ran into you about 3 times this week. I was in my black 8. Your car looks awesome! Kinda makes me regret not getting the appearance package.

triumphrider 03-11-2004 09:15 PM

What weather! Yesterday I rode the motorcycle to Mount Rainier (where I am doing an internship). Today I took the red 8. Tomorrow??? Choices, choices.

Any comments from the Olympia Izzy's get-together?

Vicki

pp13bnos 03-11-2004 10:47 PM

Although, I love driving my 8.....the FD still calls to me. Every sunny day without it....is like a month of rain with it. (I don't drive it in the rain. :) ) I just wish it was fully tuned, so I could drive it. :( Some day, it will travel the roads again....oh yes....it will. CJ

radcttek 03-15-2004 09:47 PM

I just recieved my yellow 8 a week ago, and am enjoying the thrill of it. Not too many 8's yet in the Salem area, and enjoy watching heads turn from everyone around me. If there is an organized group in the Salem/Portland area, I'd be interested in knowing as I love cruising.

Congrats and welcome! I know what you mean about the 8 being a head turner. :D Get used to it! As to organized groups, I am aware of but have yet to attend a meeting of RPNW. According to pp13bnos, they meet "at Roundtable Pizza off of Barber Blvd, on the very first Wednesday of the month, at 7pm. If you need directions feel free to ask."

pp13bnos 03-16-2004 10:37 PM

Yeap, Roundtable Pizza is the place. Lately we've had around 3-5 Rx-8s per get togethers. But most importantly, a group of very cool and friendly fellow rotor heads getting together. CJ

Ah, I may have seen you two weeks ago or so. I was on my way to the Casino one Saturday, and I saw a completely loaded yellow '8 - GT, appearance package, sun roof open, etc. Wasn't in my '8, though.

6mm 03-19-2004 03:02 AM

Here!

New Silver in Alaska

Blue87Sport 03-19-2004 02:16 PM

Congrats on the car, 6mm.

Does that make it a Midnight Sunlight Silver? :)
