A Type R can smoke you for sure stock on a roll, stand still the 8 has a chance. The RSX Type S I'm not too sure it can touch the 8 at all.

There's an RSX Type R? ?? I thought that was a designation for an Integra?

Type S and the 8 are pretty evenly matched with a slight edge going to the 8. If you are going to race, get a really good launch, and shut down after 3rd. If the race gets to 4th gear, the Acura will start to pull on you. Vtec is not your friend.

To add on to what Moostafa stated...

When you're battling a vehicle with a high compression engine with VVT technology. It's going to produce more torque as the rpm's increase. While our car's torque curve is pretty flat, when looking at it's slope, compared to the RSX who's curve is more of an upward slant.

Before engaging in any battle learn who your opponent is. Learn both your strengths and weaknesses along with his. And taper the conditions of your challenge to play on them, so that they work in your favor.

There's no RSX Type R, just the Integra Type R although they are quite similar, there's major difference if you wanna nick pick.

Type S and Type R are about as different as the Type S is from the Base.

RSX's are still called Integras in Japan
Anyway, if you know how to launch your 8 you should win from stand still, since rsx's are fwd.
when both cars, in stock form, driven to the full potential, rx8 should win 1/4 mile but the trap speed is about the same on both cars.

One thing to remember though, the RX-8 is just not all that quick or fast in a straight line. At least not in stock form. Hell my wife's Infiniti I30 has a better 1/4 and 0-60. But I can also run right over Acura RSX-S all day in the Infiniti... Has to suck to be them, get ran over by an old dude in a sedan...

But Really Drag racing a stock RX-8 is like Drag racing a Honda RC51. Sure it will get down the track just fine, but it's not what it's for.

IMHO anyway...

You really want to embarrass em? Hold your little contest on a proper clover-leaf style onramp, swapping lanes each time. Best two outta three...

No way the EconoBox front drives can hang...

The Rx8 Is Faster Then The Rsx type S At Stops. Rolling Starts Depends On Driver. I Always Run Against My Friends rsx Type S. It Wasnt Until He Got A Cold Air And Headers That He Was Able To Beat Me. Even Then I Kept Up Pretty Good Considering My Car Is Bone Stock.

RSXs are the shizzle-shiz'nap-shizz'nitts! You'll never beat one! Even with F/I. They're scurry fast! I had a gang of them approach me at the car wash. They all had black RSXs with black rims and limo tint! I almost pee-pee'd in my Tommy Hillfiger dra'wls! Scurry ****, let me tell you.

They rolled up and rev'ved on me. At first I said, "what the hell!" And rev'ved back on them. Then, we all drove up to Sears Point and raced! ALL of them beat me by 6-7 car lengths! It was so pathetic, they even started giving me head starts and one even beat me in REVERSE! I think that little b!tch was their little sister or something...mean-*** looking b!cth! She had the pig-tails and pink and yellow tassles on her rear view mirrors!

But yeah. They're that fast. Don't fu@k with them RSX owners mang. They PWN'D my *** in front of EVERYBODY!

But, I'll show them! My dad's credit union just approved him for another car loan (I told him the story and he felt so bad, he offered to buy me a new car!) Fu@k this Rotary nonsense! This'll be my new RSX Slayer:

Regardless to say, I never frequent that car wash anymore. That is until I get my new whip!

Given that the specs are virtually identical and measured only in 10ths of seconds, it will probably come down to the driver, stock for stock.

0-60 / 1/4 mi.

Acura RSX-S 6.4 / 14.9 (C&D Sept. '05)
RX-8 6.5 / 15.0 (C&D June '07)

Have the Trap Speeds for those? FWIW, C&D also ran 14.5 w/ their Long-term RX8.

My Homie Owns An Rsx-S. The Setup He Has On It Is Killer. Beats Everything Hes Come Up Against And Yet He Can Only Beat Me By A 1 1/2 to 2 Car Lengths. Yea Thats Alot But My Car Has A Mide Pipe, Staged Clutch, 8mm Spark Plug Wires And Thats It!!! Nothin Else!! If They Killed You So Bad Then They Were Either Turbo'd Or You Really Suck A Driving Bro.

I don't care a lick about dragging. Anyone with a right foot can do that. If you can keep up in the twisties, I'll be impressed. But all this talk is boring and pointless.
