Well isn't this intriguing . . .

V8 Roadsters

Notice a new link for the RX8? Really hoping this is what I hope it is.

rickeo 09-04-2013 10:29 PM

Subbed for the impending discussion. Then again, shouldn't this be in the Frankenstein RX8's section?

TeamRX8 09-04-2013 10:35 PM

the only intriguing point is why you feel the need to post an unfinished webpage on the most unfinished build topic that this forum has ever seen

tylerdurden 09-04-2013 10:41 PM

Their site is normally a fully functioning site and a pretty decent one at that. They have a good rep in the Miata V8 community. I'm hoping the site revamp is due to new content (RX8 was not a link before, I'm 99% sure as I have checked it regularly for a few months, hopefully it's not something anticlimactic like forged suspension arms or something). I posted it now because I got a tip from them a few months back that this was coming. It could be nothing, but I kinda doubt it.

But you keep shitting on the excitement of others! Doing the lord's work.

^^^ I still find it interesting, many people love the idea of a V8 RX-8, and there hasn't really been a reliable kit for it. It will be interesting to see anything come of this.

I agree completely. Grain of salt and all that. This company has a very good rep and has put together a very good kit for NC MX-5's so they are at least somewhat familiar with the contemporary Mazda chassis' and electrics. I'm hoping they pull through so we don't have the choice of 180whp for 30-150K miles or 300whp for <30K. An LSx with 350-400whp would last a good long life.

Anyway, this isn't a build thread or anything, just stumbled upon this tonight and thought I'd share.

alnielsen 09-04-2013 11:38 PM

First time I've heard of the RX8 being called a roadster.

They've been pretty much focused on Miatas until now. Also, I had no idea this sub existed until now! Good stuff.

Boeuf 09-05-2013 02:39 PM

My buddy deals with them for v8 Miata builds. Their products are excellent quality as is their service.
My buddy actually spoke with them a few days ago and was told they're planning for the kit to be ready by years end and it will be for a few different engine options but he wouldn't elaborate on what other engines than the LSx they are planning.

RIWWP 09-05-2013 02:42 PM

This is most likely triggered by Flyin Miata (one of V8Roadster's biggest dealers) completing their first LS3 swapped NC Miata (2006+). The NC shares the exact same subframe mounting points as the RX-8, along with quite a few other similarities.

Not really quite as much of a leap from that point

Chrishoky 09-05-2013 04:53 PM

Cool!

Yep, that's basically why I contacted them earlier this year. Glad to see it's coming to fruition.

RX8_ZX3 10-18-2013 01:39 PM

I've been in contact with them. Looks like a release date of around Dec '13.
If the quality is anything like their other kits (it will be very similar to the NC kit) then this should sell like hotcakes.

If I don't build the motor and turbo my 350z, I'll be doing this swap for sure.

TeamRX8 10-19-2013 10:02 AM

It's not like we haven't heard this all before like maybe a half dozen times or so. You could at least wait for it to be released before going fanboi on it

Blackbriar2189 10-19-2013 10:39 AM

^ lol I did that

Not sure how I went fanboi, but ok. I agree that it's been said many times, I'm just relaying information in an already established thread about the specific subject that is being discussed. All you have contributed here is nay-saying.

I have been talking to them on their Facebook page about release dates and other details about the kit. I have been looking for a kit or a shop to build a kit for a few months now and this is the only option that I like so far. This isn't a Hinson quality kit. You should look at their website (which sucks) and Flyin Miatas website. The kits are very nice and complete.

tylerdurden 10-19-2013 10:30 PM

Never mind him, he's a well established nay sayer and curmudgeon. Guess he'd rather everything suck and him be right than something nice come along and be wrong? Not that he's necessarily wrong here, but I don't understand the pre-emptive point shitting he seems to love. Takes all kinds I guess.

Boeuf 10-20-2013 08:52 AM

I understand where Team is coming from but if there's a company out there that's going to make a quality kit, V8 Roadsters is most likely one of them. Their MX5 kits are excellent quality and bolt up very easily according to the guys I know that have used them.
Hopefully they do a great job with this kit.

BigCajun 10-20-2013 09:14 AM

What 's really needed is a V-6 Isuzu kit.
Torque out the wazoo.;)

I think you mean Turbo Isuzu V-6:yelrotflm

finiata 12-01-2013 08:13 AM

The other motor is the GM V6, 3.6L. They are legit. Having a functioning dash has been the flat tire on all newer chassis swaps. I believe the CAN interpreter is the way to go and loose the factory ecu. Build thread looming. They have some pics on Facebook.
