Pulling engine and transmission
So I'm in the process of yanking out the little Dorito and need to know if any tips to keep from breaking parts in the process. Going to sell as much as I can to help offset the cost on the swap. Engine is good... Replacement with good compression and only 80k. 6 port version and 6 speed to go with it.
I'm stuck at the stupid intake... Any suggestions? Again trying to avoid breaking things |
Did you remove the upper intake manifold? What exactly is the problem?

You may have already figured it out, but I posted a video of removing the engine and transmission on my youtube channel. Here is the intake removal:

i'm taking it isnt a day job ... dropping the engine out for a swap?

A sawzall will be your best friend.. Unless you plan on using the engine again later... I just removed the engine, trans, and rear differential from my 2004 RX8 this morning.. Start to finish was just under 2.5 hours. This is using a lift at my shop. If you are being careful and marking everything so that you know where it all goes back, and are worried about having to reuse every part... yea, it's gonna take a lot longer. I literally was hacking and cutting and had it all done in record time.
