1jz kit

http://www.ls1rx8.com/1jz2jz-conversion-kit.html
has anyone had experience of this company /persond offering a kit for a 2jz conversion kit...
very attractive but seem too good to be through
about to attempt a rotary rebuild but toying with this idea.
supplied with a trigger wheel to activate the rx8 dash...
i plan to run the toyota engine on its own ecu...not sure where that would leave me with the immobiliser for the Toyota engine. ..is it linked into the ecu ..

If you have to ask then this is probably not the project for you.

i disagree.
that's an arrogant assumption
im an electrical engineer.
ive worked all my life on cars
ive rebuilt a rotary and an rx dash and interior.
The only thing to hold me back is the lack of a welding plant to fabricate engine mounts.
my rx8 shortblock is already hanging from an engine hoist. .
this is an engine swap forum
..don't be a troll

even if you had a 2jz motor lying around, this is not a plug and play project.
that $2250 is just the beginning

9krpmrx8 12-14-2016 01:54 PM

Congrats on your vast experience.

There has been plenty of discussion about this company here, and a quick search would reveal that there is only one 2JZ swap that I can think of that is running stateside (its been done in Pakistan and one in Poland IIRC with less than stellar results) and it did not use a kit.

Rather than start a new thread every time you have a question, I would suggest using the search function here first, you will get much better results.

dalippy 12-14-2016 02:12 PM

company

The reason i posted a new thread is because I have never heard of this website and im not about to post 2250 dollars to a company with an unproven track record. and i am trying to draw on possible experience of the above company. there is no mention on rxclub of this site..or of the European company on ebay offering adapter plates ready made for rx8 gearboxes...
its cheaper to ask than to jump in head first hence the idea of a forum?
and i won't offer congratulations on your lack of research in Pakistan 2jz conversions ..a guick search on pakwheels outlines numerous conversions...
i will admit that the Pakistan conversions have been reported to throw out the handling characteristics more than once but thats to be expected putting a massive toyota lump up front..just as it happens I have access to a 2jz lump..ecu manifold keys dash and anything i want off the car basically .there is plenty of hits on ls1 conversion kits..none on kits for 2jz

You could contact the company and ask them if they have sold any ,and if they have ,would they give you contact details .....

There are some people on here that have actually used the ls swap kit, you can ask them about their experiences with the company, but I haven't seen anyone do a #JZ swap from LS1RX8

dalippy 12-14-2016 02:34 PM

good idea

i will try that but it would be great getting unbiased feedback on this site about the kit (if anyone has used it)
im in Ireland and as i pointed out before. .ls series engines range from 4-9 grand..rare and expensive.
toyota engines are plentiful cheap and practically been given away.
that kit would be ideal for European rx8 swaps

dalippy 12-14-2016 02:54 PM

my parameters for a swap

The strange thing is i am the opposite from most rx8 engine swaps.
i can make the electronics work and
im a seasoned spanner jockey
but a welder i am not
..nethier am i willing to cut into the bulkhead of the rx8 and compromise its wonderfully strong chassis.
so what is holding me back is these problems.
engine mounts.
handling.
lack of a gearbox mount.
drive shaft.
exhaust path.
The drive shaft and exhaust fabrication will be contracted out due to the balanced nature of these parts anyway ..if i am to believe what is described on the above website it will solve my other problems. ..
i will still have ultimately have a front heavy car tho.
gone too cold here for rx8 work...-2 Celsius tonight. .so i won't be ordering my rotary rebuild kit until after Christmas. ..
so im considering all options until then.
but make no mistake my rx8 will be cracking twin exhaust thunder next may regardless of being powerd by mazda or toyota

Chizfab in Scotland have done a 2jz swap, been featured in a few mags. If I can find the link, I'll post it up.

Cheers John

It's always better to build your own kit as you go then to buy a kit, you can make ur own mounts and buy adjustable sway bar links and other stuff for your swap. If you know what your doing it will be easier then u think,
