Water in passenger side floorboard

Hey,

I have an 05 rx-8 auto transmission that I purchased about a week ago. Yesterday I washed the car for the first time and after drying it I opened the door for some reason and realized there was a decent amount of water in the passenger floorboard. It had been roughly 20 min. since I had "applied" and water to the vehicle. When Getting the water out I felt around to try and find a path to how the water got in. I couldn't find anything, there was no damp trail on the floorboard, no wet seal on the door or window, nothing. Its almost like the water just came up out of the floor. Thats not to say that the source hadn't tried in the time since I was using the water.

I contacted the guy I bought it from and he said he'd never experienced that before. I don't know him very well, but I'm inclined to believe him. He didn't hide any issues when I met him to purchase the car and we've talked back and forth since then. (Not many car guys in my area so we all tend to stay in contact). He told me he's never had that issue but said the trunk has been damp after a heavy rain before.

Has anyone ever had this issue, or heard of someone having it? If not does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on where the water might be coming from?

The problem of water in the front floor is very often connected to one of two things, your sunroof drain is clogged or your cowl drains are clogged. Actually, it could be both of those things. lol. If you don't have a sunroof, that narrows it down. Check for tree sediment around the cowl, at the bottom of the windshield.

It's usually the A/C evaporator drain. Search for " duck lips" and you should get a thread that has pictures of where to free up the drain ;)
