want to mod my rx8, don't know what to do

Hey guys, me again

I'm looking to mod my rx8 a bit, but I have no idea where to start. I'm not looking into performance mods because there is little to no power to be gained out of the rx8. I'm talking about aesthetic mods. Stuff like lighting, interior, and electric mods. I don't have any idea where to start. For example, my friend recommended that I get halo lights and the indy-cator shifter. Any other ideas for my car?
Thanks

I recommend you look around, find out what you like and do that. There are right and wrong ways to do power mods, but for aesthetics you're the designer, it's your car and your vision and taste.

I could tell you to wear a skirt, but that doesn't mean you think it'll look good.

Get a BHR ignition kit to start the car right up. I don't know your budget, but for bolt-on mods, get some coilovers to lower the car, aftermarket intake and exhaust for power. Those are just basic mods, not extreme. For the rest, just use your imagination, and make it as your own...good luck whatever you decide to do.

He clearly stated aesthetic mods. I was unaware that an ignition system, exhaust and intake were visual mods

Something aesthetically pleasing does not have to be visual.

Could be sound, touch, visual, etc.

I'm having a hard time trying to see the aesthetic value in an ignition system but to each their own.
I guess maybe it could please your emotions aesthetically?

All nonsense aside, it is your car OP.

Here are my suggestions or ideas, based solely off of what I have done / would do to my car:

Exterior:
Exhaust: Sounds and looks
Aero Kit / Authentic Body Kit: Spoiler, front lip, skirts
Eyelids: Can look very good if done right
Coilovers: If you're going for looks and your roads permit it, going lower can always look great
Wheels: Get some new wheels!
Cleaning: Give it the ultimate treatment. Clay bar, swirl remover, polish, wax, etc.
Personally I am not a halo person, but if you are go for it

Interior:
Shifter: Lots of great ***** out there, look around the forum for ideas
Double-Din Deck: Or just a replacement deck, can look awesome and make the stock speakers sound much better in my opinion
Lighting: There is a thread on this forum which lists all bulb numbers for the entire car. Replacing some with LED's inside would look very nice
Upgraded Speakers / Subs: Although I wouldn't change the speakers myself, adding some bass could both be aesthetically pleasing to the ears and when you open the trunk (You can get specially made boxes even off of eBay that will fit subs nicely in our trunks)
Good Cleaning: Probably the best thing for the interior, shine er up and keep it sparkly clean!

Misc:
Intake: Great for sounds, as well as looks for me (AEM or MS look sexy)
Engine Bay Cleaning: Nothing like a new looking engine bay!

So that is my list. Please remember, these are things I have done, or have considered doing in the past. There are many other things you could do, but it all depends on YOUR taste. We've seen people do halo's, multi-colored paint jobs, fins, de-badging, and numerous other things, but ultimately it is your car, and there are tons of threads and postings on this forum that I'm sure will help you draw inspiration to make the car into something you will love.

I would recommend taking a look at the "Calling All Colors" thread in the multimedia section. Look through a couple of them and other various threads in that section. Also check out the Exterior subforum, the interior one, etc. Lots of things to see to get that creative spark flowing!

Thanks for all the responses
But, I was also curious to what you guys thought about luxury or ease of mind mods (don't really know how to word that lol). Stuff like push to start buttons, lowered thermostat, daytime lights.

And I made this topic because i have never modded my car before, so i don't really know the limits that this car can go to, or whats possible to do with it. I was hoping for you guys to tell me about some of the things you guys did with your car and I could use that as inspiration for what to do in mine.

Thanks again, you guys are awesome

whats a double din deck? How do they make the speakers sound better?
One last thing, have halo lights been made for the S2 yet? I haven't found any for sale yet.

There are a number of body kits that can change the look of the car significantly. Can make it tasteful and classy or super aggressive, depending on your style. That's pretty $$$ though.

If you want easy first steps, wheels and tires go a long way. Visit tirerack.com and try out some wheels on a picture of an rx8 , see what catches your fancy.

DIN is the German standards institute, and they define a radio size that's 2 inches tall and 7 inches wide. Double DIN referes to 4 inches tall. You can put more and fancier sound gear into that space.

Not something I'd do because I'm not into big audio and I think it's sacrilege to destroy the rotary motif of the stock radio. But that's me.

Cool that everyone is telling you to do what you want, rather than moaning about RICE. But I suggest you look up the "What not to do to your car" thread for things that may seem like a good idea but you might not enjoy in the long run.
