Tire question

Hi all! I've got an 04 and I recently got a screw in my tire so I gotta replace it. A friend of mine said he can give me his rims/tires that he doesnt need anymore, but just curious if they would fit the car.

Currently the car has 245 40R18s and 225 45R18s on it, and my friends tires are 255 40R18 and 225 40R18.

I want to swap the tires and get my car back on the road, just trying to figure out if his tires would work, and if I'd run into any issues. I'm not that good with cars, but I can change a tire.

Thanks

255 is going to be tight, a lot depends on the rim offset. Can you use his and yours 225s? There's really nothing to be gained from mixing sizes om this car.

The screw is in the back left tire (my 245), so are you saying just use 225s front and back?

Just use the 225's, do not run staggered

^^ yep. Since they're not exactly the same, I would put the 225/45R18 in the back and /40's in the front.

I did this when I was a cheap ass with my first rx8 and drove it in the winter. I bought used winter tires in these separate sizes, every couple thousand miles the traction control lights would freak out and I would just restart the car and it would be fine.
