Taking Gearbox out off my RX8 13b 5spd

Hi guys Im looking at taking my gearbox out off my 2003 rx8 13b 5speed, Just wondering Is the Oil filter/housing on the gearbox? and also do i need to take all big plate bit the whole way back off from drive sharft? cheers

The oil filter and plate are attached to the engine. You can remove the transmission without removing the oil filter or the oil filter housing plate.

Just 7 bolts I think, between the bellhousing and the engine.

Drop the drive shaft...(remove the bolts on the diff flange).....be careful not to drop it if it is the carbon shaft. When you pull the shaft out of the tranny it will dump the oil...so either be prepared or drain it first :)

The starter needs to be removed as well....and the clutch slave has 2 12mm bolts to remove it and leave the hydraulics connected. The only other thing that needs to be removed are the electrical connectors for the backup and neutral switches

Then you just pull the tranny straight back off the input shaft and remove it

IIRC 5speeds don't have a carbon driveshaft

Don't think so either...but JIK :)

Taking Gearbox out off my RX8 13b 5spd

Hi guys, Started taking gearbox out today to do a new clutch kit,I'm Just wondering Do i need to take that Cross member bit that goes from rear diff to the gear off or can it stay in place?? also can exhaust stay in place?? thanks heaps guys :) :)

Don't use big block letters mate.

And to answer your question, yes

You need to remove the PPF (cross member bit as you called it) to get access to the driveshaft, which you will need to remove to pull your gearbox. Be careful, it's heavy.

You will only need to remove your midpipe, not the whole exhaust
