Stance Coilovers
When I first started looking for an 8 I put down a list of things I wanted to do to it. One thing I wanted was coilovers not to lower or camber but for the response and stiffness to minimize body roll. I always thought stance would be good because you can adjust the dampening. I recently searched about them on here though and someone in one thread said to avoid them, is it true, should I avoid them? And why should I? If someone can help me that would be awesome!:biggthump

They aren't known to have quality damping characteristics...and they tend to fail more often that better coilovers.

Ohlins are arguably the best at around $2000. Below that price, Bilstein PSS is arguably the best at around $1100. If you really want adjustable rebound PSS9 costs around $1500.
Stance / BC / Megan / Powertrix / Etc. are all basically one notch above junk. |

Stance suck in every way, even with swift springs mine still felt horrible.

I have been using Stance coilovers since 2009. I have had to replace dampers, but otherwise they've been fine. Are they the cream of the crop? No. But they were very supportive while I tested out their fitment and gave them feedback on setup.
I think their spring rates are a bit nuts, though. If you want a street setup, I think they're just fine. And I've been using mine on track for years. |
Using PowerTrix, basically same as Stance from what I hear. They let me adjust what I want and gave me a good spring rate. But, you spend more, you do get a better product. I did not have more to spend at the time.
Biggest thing is your daily drive. Match that up with spring rates. The PSS9 rate is really nice, I do not recall the numbers, but the most common response is that the ride was like butter. I am at 9K and 6K, I consider that the limit for the street. It rides about like my Expedition at low speeds. |
