rx8 wont reach redline???

hey guys! so i have a 05 rx8 bought with no issues with it. i been driving her for about 4 months now. last week i found a leak thats coming from the rad and the tube broke. i havent driven her since i found the leak! so i drove it today but not as hard as i normally do and i tried redlining it 2nd to 3rd but the needle wont reach the redline. it literally holds at 7k rpm. i dont know what to do!!!

Is the engine gonna give up on me soon? or is it just another minor/major problem?? I need help guys pleasee!

You are driving it with the radiator leaking?
First and easiest way to kill a rotary is to overheat it

If the car isnt warmed up it will be rev limited until it is

fix the radiator before you need a new motor

On my 8, a previous owner installed a cheap aftermarket midpipe, hadn't caused any issues so I had never thought much of it. Later comes the time I'm replacing my oil cooler lines, and swapping my ignition coils for some BHR ones. As I was just learning what I was doing, the car sat around for 5 weeks, and when it was done, I had the same problem. It just wouldn't rev past 6k. Turns out, the cat burnt out as soon as I started the car again after having not starting it for that long.

I would not start by assuming the cat, but it's definitely a possiblity.

Fix the radiator before driving it again. Attempting to redline is already far too aggressive on a car with a compromised cooling system.

Possible causes of reduced redline:
-Limp mode ECU protection due to detected faults
-Aux Port actuator stuck in closed position
-Compromised ignition system (coils/wires/plugs)
-Clogged or damaged catalytic converter/exhaust
-Damaged or dirty MAF, leading to lean AFR or slow response at high-RPM
-Very bad compression, though other signs should appear long before an inability to reach redline

It's either a clogged cat or bad solenoids (the three underneath the UIM). Though, you shouldn't be running the car with a coolant leak as it will overheat and then your engine will for sure be toast.
