RX8 project maybe REW?
I am a FD guy. Have been on RX7club for a long time but new here. long story short I got a call from a local shop owner told me to come by asap there is a RX8 in the lot that has low compression and no start. Got there and car owner was waiting for me asked me if i would buy it price was so good I could not pass it up. now I have my first rx8 and have no idea what to do with it.
Car had hot start problems. Then would not start at all. A half ass compression test was done by the shop owner. from what I understand he did every thing to the book but did not remove the valve in his gauge. I have never personally seen a rotary blow all 6 seals but i think this one has!!! over all compassion front housing 20psi and back 15psi. when you crank the engine you cant even here the rotors. I first thought the starter was not engaging but they are spinning. Not looking to make a killer just something fun to drive. option 1 rebuild -rebuild kit $1200 (any tips on cheaper location?) -what gains do people see with street port with NA rx8 -any need to do meth injection? option 2 Swap swap with a 1.3b REW I have sitting in my shed. -cost (I have read swap forums but cant seam to find any one with a cost of parts.) - any one seen a DIY subframe for the swap thread ? -ECU options? can I get REW to work with stock RX8 ECU - what transmission should I use the 6 form the 8 or 5 from the 7? Since you have rotary background, you know that you're going to need more than a seal kit. I just spent more than double what I paid for my silver 8 on a stock rebuild. I can't quote costs for the rew swap but I would guess that your investment will be significantly more.

seafoam WTF!!!! so I finally had time to look at the car. I have never used seafoam nor had to in my 7. had a friend tell me to give it a try. I laughed in his face! "no way its going to do shit" I already tried ATF to start it and no luck. but praying to baby Jesus I went and got 4 cans of it. car would turn over but it sound like just the starter spinning there was so little compression. first I disconnected the mid pipe by that cat did not want that shit in the exhaust just incase. then I took the intake off and dumped a full bottle in each port well some one was cranking. let it sit for 2 hours. took the truck and tripled up the jumper cables and cranked. took about 20 seconds and started to here a change sounded like rotary compression. after stoping and starting 3 or 4 times its now trying to start. HOLY SHIT! so peddle to the floor and CRANK, PRAY, REPEAT!!! ITS ALIVE..... took it out for a rip bud! lots of power, could not tell there was any thing wrong until I stopped had an idle problem and died on me would not restart and did not have time to try it any more.
