Rotor Housings
Just today I looked into the spark plug hole on my series 1 04' rx8 and turned the flywheel. (The engine was out) I see all 6 apex seals still sat in each rotor (Yay!) but when i compression tested it before I removed the engine, I got 80, 40,40 on the front rotor. Are wore out apex seals enough to cause this drastic loss of compression? Or does this mean that my housings are shot?

No way to tell without opening the block. However I would almost guarantee that you will need housings if the motor was original to the car.

Who has the best prices on new SE3P housings? Mazdatrix gets $725.00 and Atkins wants $850.00. I found a company in Japan who ships to the states, anyone ever bought from these guys??
https://www.rhdjapan.com/mazda-oem-r...-se3p-13b.html $614.00 including shipping per housing |
That is an amazing price. There is a local guy in our crew selling one brand new housing.

I thought so too, they look reputable although you never know. I haven't called my local Mazda dealer but If I had to guess they would be even more then Atkins. Who is it that has the one housing for sale? I checked the classified section unless I overlooked it...
His name is Oscar Flores, he is on the SARX FB group and the rx8club FB Group. |
