Reaching Out
Hey members, I woke up this morning looking for some help. I have a 2004 RX8. I'm hearing from a mechanic friend, whom he and I looked at some videos and came to a conclusion that my car needs the APEX seals replaced. I live in Sacramento California, and am looking for some help in finding a person that can replace then without telling me that I have to replace the motor. Any ideas?

it doesnt work that way. you dont just replace apex seals. please read the new owners guide and get a rotary specific compression test. "replacing apex seals" is not that easy. it requires a full rebuild-inspection of housings, irons, e-shaft, apex/side/corner/oil/water seals etc

Ok, thanks.

Before going any further, have a proper compression test performed.

Do you want to tell us what the actual problem is? With a description like that, it doesn't sound like your mechanic friend is doing you any favours. Maybe the problem is elsewhere entirely.
