Okay, I'm back again.
So, my thoughts on my RX-8 after having owned it a couple weeks.
The Good:
The car looks great. The interior looks nice and nothing comes off as cheap. I've been used to cheap plastic interiors on my Grand AM ('99) and my Impala ('04). The difference is fantastic. On my Grand AM and Impala, the plastic exposed to the sun would become damaged by the sun and crack easily and fall apart. The handles and ***** and such felt flimsy. It's not the case on my RX-8. The 8 feels much higher quality and I really appreciate that.
This is weird, but I really like how fast the windows go up and down. When I pull up next to an ATM or pull through or whatever and the window just drops, it just makes me feel good for some reason haha. I dig it for sure.
The moon roof is excellent. I love being able to open it and I think it makes the car look a tad more flashy. (which I like)
The noise the engine makes is awesome. I've noticed it with Hondas as well. It makes this whir instead of a roar. It sounds refined. The best analogy I can think of is instead of being a big ripped guy in a muscle shirt, we're a ripped guy in a business suit with shades.
The Bad:
Now, I was aware that the torque isn't phenomenal when I bought the car, so I'm not gonna complain too much, but when the Accord next to you is faster than you, it feels bad ._.
The seats aren't necessarily made for just anyone. I personally haven't had a problem with it (I actually find them comfortable) but several people who have been in my car; namely shorter people than me or taller (I'm 5'11) have commented on not being very comfortable with the head rest portion of the seat.
Low storage room. Again, I can't really complain a lot about this because I knew the deal when I bought it. I generally carry a Hookah around, which takes up a good half of the trunk space, then my bowling equipment takes up the other half. If I want to bring a backpack, suitcase, computer, whatever it may be; it's gonna take up a seat or two. It's been inconvenient at points, but in general, I haven't experienced much of a problem yet.
Conclusion:
As someone who doesn't travel much, drag race or weigh myself down with bags and luggage, I find the RX-8 to be quite comfy and stylish looking. Saying it's a pleasure to drive is an understatement and the feeling of accelerating and being forced back into your seat never gets old. I'm very happy with my purchase and would do it again.

hahaha fuzzy? Sounds like you were doing it right then
I think Hookah's great. Not because I like the taste of it or because I'm addicted to the tobacco buzz but because the atmosphere when it's just a dark room/garage/porch with some music (Pink Floyd is a crowd favorite for us actually
) and the coals glowing orange is so unique, relaxing and comfortable. It's really a good bonding experience I think.Something I personally thought was ones of the neatest experiences was we (me and like 4 friends) were playing Shpongle (trippy, "far out" type music), we were all sitting in lawn chairs circling the hookah which was on a little coffee table in the middle of the garage. The garage was dark except for a single white light shining down on the Hookah which illuminated and reflected off all the little metal contours and such (my hookah is a little artsy). Then the glow from the coals was really visible due to the smoke in the air. It created this really surreal environment.
DISCLAIMER:
I'm not a smoker really apart from hookah and even then I only have a session once a month or so (or at least I try to keep it that limited.) I do not recommend smoking! It's a pathway for devils to enter your soul, so leave it alone.

I need help
I recently bought a 2006 mazda rx-8 and it ran yesterday, but wont start today could it be a fuel relay. I currently own a 2005 and have never had this problem before.

I imagine a competent shop could do it, but it may be more economical to let a rotary specialist do it all.

Read the new members section and the section now that I have an 8 here's what I need to do....
glad that you had one of those really rare Grand Am with the V4 engines. I couldn't never find one so I ended up with a Honda V4 motorcycle instead

Complete loss of power on me doing about 65. Sputtered to a stop. Restarted and ran like it was choked or starved for air or fuel. Wouldnt restart. Trailered it home and began investigating. Removed and cleaned ssv. Cleaned maf. New plugs, wires, and coils. Gutted cat. Performed deflood and added oil to spark plug chamber. Started right up and smoked like an mvp. ran ***** out but waivered between 3000 and 8500 rpm. When i thought it leveled out i eased of the gas and it died. Hasnt started since but not for lack of trying aggressively. What could be the issue other than what i fear the most (compression)?

o fuel pressure loss
o e-shaft sensor fouled
• high end power loss (smooth)
o Catalytic converter clog
o air filter clog
• low end power loss (smooth)
o Engine compression loss
• low end power loss (stumbles)
o Ignition failure
o front O2 sensor failure
• revs slowly but smoothly
o O2 sensor failure (too lean)
o catalytic converter clog
o air filter clog
• sudden power drop at a specific rpm
o Intake valving actuation problem
• trouble getting to redline
Ignition failure
o front O2 sensor failure
o catalytic converter clog
o air filter clog
o e-shaft sensor fouled
o fuel pressure loss
o MAF failure
Could be a fuel pump failure (see fuel pressure loss ,listed above).Have you checked your fuel pressure? If you have good spark, air intake, and it still won't start, you are missing fuel pressure likely. How many miles on the fuel pump, and have you checked operation of your fuel injectors? Have you had the recalls done on the fuel pump assembly , fuel tank rings and fuel tank insulation pads(US recall) ?

I guess I'll just keep an eye out over the next few months looking for the right one.
From the sounds of it, I may want to get a car from a dealer if for nothing else than the warranty. I guess the trade off would be if I can get a car from a private seller and save the money to be able to do the most extreme of fixes I would need to do.
Originally, I had intended to buy one with about everything I had banking on it lasting a month or two but it became rapidly obvious that this could be disastrous for me. I now intend to wait a month or two for backup funds and purchase the car when it's comfortably within my means. (Has been my plan since starting this thread)

I have took gas into consideration. I currently budget twice as much as I actually ever use for gas because, you never know when you might need to take a sudden 70 mile trip that you didn't foresee. I can't be losing all my money because I didn't think ahead. Because of this, I don't expect the RX-8 to be too much of a financial hit in terms of gas.
I appreciate the recommendation though! I'll keep that in mind for planning my budget in the future.

The thing is that I live in Idaho and I am 18. This will be the 2nd car I purchase because I was supposed to move to Michigan last weekend, but while I was on the road in my 97 Civic (Project car my Uncle was going to help me on) my transmission dropped in the middle of Wyoming and my tires locked while I was going 80 on the highway. So I’m in search of a car and I’ve been really into the 2004 RX8 and I’ve learned quite a bit about it from doing research and watching videos and this forum has helped me gained some knowledge so thank you, but my point is that in Idaho, I have only found 2 RX8’s within 500 miles of my cuty and they are out of state and I am totally fine with going on the trip to get me one of them. One of them is from a dealership that after I called them to see if they would let me purchase it, they updated the price on their website to now $6K and it was $5K before I called with 104K miles. But the other one is from a private seller who had it up for $2800 and then after I contacted him it dropped to $2500. He told me that the motor was rebuilt 1K miles ago. I want to know what you guys think about that because if I travel to one state or the other then I will end up buying it. They are in different states by the way. One in Montana and the other in Utah. Both being 5 hours away, please help
If the dealer won't or can't provide a rotary specific compression test, forget it.

New tires on a sonata
I really need help figuring this one out. I bought new tires for my 2014 sonata.p225/45 /R18 w my last tires were the same but the letter after 18 was a v. Would this be making my car feel like the wind is pushing me around on the tollway?

iirc the letter is a speed rating. higher speed ratings are probably a softer/more grip tire

If on a Hyundai then I know Tiburon and Kia Soul but no recent vehicles from Korea.
I started out in 1976 with an RX2 coupe with blown motor that I replaced with a Cosmo 3 rotor and turbo in high school shop class. Still ran points system but what a pain to cold start when apex seals wore out. I scored a 6 speed Mann transmission that hammer shifted under load quite nicely.
Last rear axle the car had was a 280ZX turbo because I kept shearing the ring gear bolt heads off the RX2 ones.
I just recently had heart surgery but maybe I might get one more RX before I’m gone. It’s interesting to see what some of the changes were internally. I know 17,000 rpm shifts were the norm on the track. My ex was jealous of my vehicles and trashed all but a couple of my pics.
