New rx8 owner! Service advice (UK).....

Hello!!

Bought my first RX8 yesterday, a grey 2009 r3 with 42k miles, and absolutely love it!! Cannot get enough of it, so addictive to drive.

It was last serviced by the previous owner in late 2016 (since which it has done about 4K miles), so I want to send it in for another. So, two questions:

1. Anyone recommend anywhere around the south east London/Essex area which would carry out a good service? (I’d also like to get it compression tested. The seller hadn’t had one done, but I did the cold start/hot start test before buying and there was no issue at all, plus the pull is so strong and consistent throughout. Would like to get one done anyway just to put the mind at rest....)

2. Do I need to tell the guys that carry out the service what oil to use and provide them with the right option (from what I’ve read, looks like 10w40, although know this is a sensitive topic...), or will they know this??

Thanks!!

Read this about 10 times, then 10 more just to make sure it's stuck: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/

1. Search around (Google search "site:rx8club.com <search terms>"). For now, I'll throw you a bone and a link to a UK-specific RX8 forum: https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/

2. I personally use synthetic 0W-40 all year round. Some in warmer climates use much heavier weights like 20W-50, others stick to the recommended 5W-20/5W-30. Some use conventional, others use synthetic. There's no true right answer, just keep it changed often (every 3k miles).
