New RX8 owner with engine problems
Hello All,
I just purchased an 05' RX8 with 130,000 mi. and an automatic trans. The previous owner parked the car back in March because he couldn’t get it to start. I trailered the car home and then went through the deflooding process and got the car running. It seemed to idle fine but as soon as I put it in gear it would die. I managed to keep the engine running and drove the car around the block, but every time I’d get on the gas there would be a big cloud of smoke behind the car. While trying to pull the car back into the garage it died and wouldn’t restart. Once I let it cool down it started. From everything I've read here it sounded like it had low compression so I did a compression test with the Schrader valve removed from the gauge. The best I could tell I only have 50 psi for each rotors. I figure the engine was going to need to be rebuilt when I bought the car so I’m not surprised. Is there anything else I should check before I pull the engine out?
