New to the mazda scene
hey guys, just bought an 05 rx8 and now im just wondering if there is nothing i can do to it. Take it easy on me though cuz im coming from the vw scene so I really have no idea what a mazdas potential is. I want to change the exhaust and lower it and put new wheels on it. Any ideas would be great.

If you want to do something to it, start with this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...rx-8-a-233937/ Although, you should learn the basics about the car and start with this thread first: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/ Then go to the modding guide once you understand more about the car itself. |
I meant anything not nothing haha and i just see a lot of people who say that performance cant really be upgraded unless you have like money comin out your butt

That's right. Mazda did a really nice job of tuning the Renesis, so there's no low hanging fruit. To get much more power you need to add a blower. That's not cheap. After you read the threads RI pointed you to, browse the performance forum here.

Welcome bud! Just enjoy her as is for awhile. Let it teach you a few things first then go on with some mods. Its more then a blast to drive as it sits stock.

The threads RIWWP posted should be mandatory reading, just from the sheer amount of condensed knowledge in them. Study them, there should be an exam! :)
That being said, if all you want to do is change the rims, lower it, and put a cat back on there are tons of options available to you! Have fun and enjoy your new-to-you RX-8!!! Oh and welcome! :) |
So i think the only thing i wanna do is smoke the tails, paint my rims black since i have a white rx8, and maybe lower it but it already seems low..... I am just so confused like i have no reason to upgrade my rx8 its perfect the way it is..... I am a lost puppy

Yeah...they're pretty close to perfect the way they come out of the factory. Just drive it and enjoy it. :)

Drive it and enjoy it, it handles pretty much perfect out of the box. So unless you want a stoplight drag race queen (which this will never be) it is almost perfect the way it was originally sold. For most people, they get an exhaust for more/better sound, better coils for a little better response and a piece of mind. But other than a few reliability upgrades you are getting 230hp out of a 1.3L engine that love to rev forever. Rev it, turn it and enjoy it.
