New to 8's, some help for first time buyer

Hey, I currently daily drive a 1989 rx7 convertible and I'm looking at something a little more "family friendly" as a secondary car .

I am knowledgeable on rotaries as this is my 4th FC and 3rd convertible. I understand what is required of me to maintain them so that is not an issue. I'm more worried on rx8 specific issues. As they are newer therefore have more electronics. Also what are the deflooding procedures? Is it the same as a regular 13b? Pull egi fuse, push gas pedal to floor and crank all the bad flooded fuel? And install/clean plugs to make sure everything is good?

I'm looking for an 06+ manual with around 140k-200k with service records. My commute is to college and work both of which are within 15kms of my house. This is going to be my main car as I already have an SUV for the wife and a summer car for myself. I wanted a sporty car with enough room for two children so naturally since I have rotors in my blood I decided to look at 8s. Now I am open to S2s but I'd prefer S1s.

Any pointers ?

The deflood procedure is the same, minus pulling the EGI fuse. Just press the pedal to the floor, this cuts fuel delivery. You can google it. A light flood doesn't require pulling the plugs out, but for a heavy flood you may need to do that.

These cars are pretty cheap even with lower mileage. No need to go into 140k-200k range unless you're really on a budget.

I'm sure most of your FC experience is transferable but do read the "New and Potential Owners" thread so you get all the RX8 specific items in there. It's nothing crazy.

I got my 08 rx8 for 6500 with 70k miles. I got pretty lucky and blessed(guy had all service records and recall work done). So like Loki said, I wouldn’t find anything with too many miles unless you just want to start with a fresh rebuilt engine. My 0.2.
Welcome to rx8 forums!

Kinda envious! My most attainable dream car is a FC Turbo II.

shouldnt be too much of a transfer over.
