Need a problem solved or explained
So I recently got a 06' Rx8 and been using only premium gas and pre mixing often and oil changes every 4k miles. My milliage is currently at 98,00. So I've been doing a a lot of highway driving and after 15min of driving I'm getting this loud noise from under the car sounds like the exhaust under the shifter maybe the cats? It's a automatic also. But it only does it in 6 gear or idles when the car is warmed up. It worse when it rains almost sounds like there's something in it that I would need to rev it to clear it out? Any help would be appreciated! 😘❤️ |

I'm new to this so I don't know how this works so don't yell at me, but anyways i have a 2005 Shinka and its running kinda rough as like when idle it shakes but when i rev it above 1k RPM it stops I don't know if that's normal or whatever but anyways i'm having a problem when my car idles for a little while smoke starts to come out where the coolant reservoir is located and I don't know what the problem is I was thinking It could be the water pump went bad or the thermostat went bad! thank you for any help givin!

If it's shaking during idling, could be motor mounts. OEM ones can go bad after a while.
Are you losing any coolant? |
Is that bad if it’s shaking like that? And no it’s not leaking coolants just smoke comes from there when it’s running for a little I’m take out the thermostat and see if that was the problem if not then idk! |
Don't worry about the thermostat. If something is smoking, a fluid is leaving your engine, so either coolant or oil. It's fairly common for the coolant reservoir to crack, especially where the cap sits . Inspect it carefully and replace if it is cracked. Check if there are traces of coolant down below the reservoir.

Why would thermostat have anything to do with this?
If it's stuck closed, your engine will very quickly overheat. Even the idiot light OEM water temp gauge will reflect this. If it's stuck open, your engine never warms up and the car throws a CEL eventually. And that's about how a thermostat can fail. So like Loki said, you are definitely losing fluid and OEM coolant reservoir is the common problem. |

Mazmart has a bottle listed that includes this small hose for this very reason. |

If your cap was on tight and just flew off like that, the reservoir is probably busted then. Possibly the cap as well, it's a good preventative maintenance anyway to replace it every few years.
And before you break the radiator as well... |

I have already checked under the car multiple times during oil changes and I don't see anything lose. The heat shield does fall once in awhile from push pins coming out but even after I put new ones still does it. But I know it's definitely not that cause when it rains it does the noise entire time. And when I'm on highway with no rain.it's just around 75-85 Mph it does it. |

Does the noise vary with rpm or with speed (which of those, if any, is important). I looked at a picture I took when I had my BHR mid-pipe installed, and I don't see a heat shield. It just has some insulation pad material above the cat and the tranny. But I agree, I'd get under the car and take a look at what could be loose. |

Cause I do know my 02 needs replaceing cause engine light came on and go it read on a reader |

I agree with Loki that you should definitely have the P0420 code checked out.
But I am still not convinced that there is a heat shield. I still have my OEM one sitting in the garage and I don't see one.
