Get at least a basic compression test before you go ripping things out. Rebuilding the engine you have isn't a great idea, you need an engine with in spec big parts, not whatever condition your parts are in now. There are rebuilders who will sell you a known good engine, as will Mazda.

Did the car ever run?
Do you have spark and fuel? Are the spark plugs wires to the correct coils in the correct order? Does the tachometer move while you crank? Have you tried deflooding it (search for the procedure)?

Try the NVRAM/KAM reset. First, clear codes.

NVRAM

Turn car to run position and pump brake pedal 20 times fast until you see the oil gauge sweep.

KAM

Hold the odometer reset and turn car to run position. You should see "Test" appear on the odometer screen then release the odometer reset.

Start car and idle for about 5 minutes and see if misfire still there.

i just got the car and it wuss not running when i got it it dose have spark and it is in the right firing order the fuel pump pumps it up to the intake have not done a compression test on it yet but when I do put oil ware the oil injector tabs that go to the rotors it dose fire up and runs a little ruff and will not idle it wuss flooded so i did do the de flooding process the throttle body wuss making a weird hi pitch sound so I don't know if it a fuel problem or the apex sells that why I'm hear asking thank for the reply

Loki 04-27-2022 11:45 PM

What intake is on there? Are there any open, disconnected or cracked vacuum hoses?

Where exactly did you add oil? There isn't exactly a user-serviceable place for adding oil to the injectors...

200.mph 04-28-2022 06:22 AM

loki i think he means the service ports on the lim

mattie2988 04-28-2022 09:57 PM

I think it’s just the stock intake

mattie2988 04-28-2022 10:11 PM

i change the coils today and no difference and the other guy is right i thank it's the service ports i didn't see any cracks in the vacuum hose I will do a compression test on it tomorrow i did do the rest dill that other guy wuss talking about and didn't change any thang is the a way to check and see if my injector is getting flued to them or the right amount of psi ? i appreciate all the help

If adding oil helped it start until the oil burned iff, there's probably at least a compression issue. But it may not be fatal, there might be other stuff going on. How fast is your starter speed or how old is the starter? Old starters don't turn fast enough to get a dying rotary going. Not a solution, but a potential mitigation / future proofing is to replace with the updated 2.0kw starter.

Throttle body makes all kinds of sounds, as long as there are no holes it's probably not related.

so i fond the the owners number and he told me the oil metering pump is out on it would the could cause it not to run or idle

Loki 05-04-2022 10:02 PM

Um. Okay. That's not how any of that works. Can you verify visually whether the OMP is there? And also don't run the engine until it is verified on and connected.

That will not cause problems running/idling but will limit you to 3000rpm and quickly destroy the engine if there isn't an alternative supply of oil.

mattie2988 05-05-2022 10:27 PM

i did mix the gas just incase i haven't ben able to do a compression test on it yet the weather has ben bad i did change the coils and plugs it sed it had a misfire on number one the omp is there what would u do to trouble shoot it after the compression test ? thanks loki u have been awesome i appreciate all the help

mattie2988 05-06-2022 10:43 PM

so tested the compression test and the back rotter housing has absolutely no compression at all so time to do a rebuild thanks loki for all your help

so it Lookes like some one tried to rebuild it and put a 6 port on a 4 port and f up the build so it Lookes like i have to get a new motor after i all ready ordered a $1500 rebuild kit any suggestions on were to get a motor that's not horrible expensive

Saminya 05-16-2022 10:28 PM

I am genuinely curious how damage like this would even happen.

Joeyjoiner 05-16-2022 11:07 PM

Thats what happens when a seal gets snagged on the port. Exactly how my plates were. I just sourced some good used ones.

mattie2988 05-18-2022 08:15 PM

it messed up the middle iron the housing and the rotter and the back housing so i thank it would just b cheaper to order a new motor
has any one used jdm for motors and if so any reviews

Loki 05-18-2022 10:28 PM

Used motors are a crapshoot. Could be fine, could be worse than what you have now. If they can provide proof it has compression, that's a good start. Also make sure the seller knows which gen and port count they have, not all of them are read up on Renesises.

Otherwise, Mazda or a rebuilder - Rotary Resurrection, Pettit, Pineaplle, etc.

mattie2988 05-18-2022 11:14 PM

Ok they do sell a lot of rotary and they do have a the port number on the ones they are selling and a warranty on their motors

CaymanRotary 05-20-2022 11:10 AM

Its very risky going with 2nd hand engines. They will work but who knows for how long is the issue. It's best to bite the bullet and get a remanufactured engine now and save yourself the heartache later.

mattie2988 07-05-2022 05:59 PM

So I got a engine from Jdm I thought I had a 4 port because I have a automatic transmission but my is a 6 port they Told me I can return the 4 port for a 6 port but the 6 port is $600 more and they are are charging me to ship them the 4 port motor and the shipping to receive the 6 port so it’s like $1390 dollars is there any way I can make the 4 port fit the 6 port and make it reliable with out switching the Ecu or should I just bite it and just spend the money?

CaymanRotary 07-05-2022 06:02 PM

Unfortunately, you'll need to ship it back. 06-08 AT models were all 6 port engines. A 4 port won't work on a 6 port transmission.

mattie2988 07-07-2022 12:15 AM

Thanks bro I will thanks everyone for your input it kinda been a pane in the a$$ to get this going but I’m shire it will be worth it when I get to finally drive it 🤣
