Misfire issues

I bought my 2004 rx8 a few months back. I've had misfire issues within the first week of owning the car. I was getting 2 CEL faults P0300 & P0301. I did my research and changed the coil packs, plugs, and wires. Additionally I had the fuel pump go out on me so I replaced that. I also replaced the clutch as it was slipping. The car has no issues starting and runs great under 5,000 RPMS. Anything over 5k the car bogs down and has multiple popping noises. I do smell a gas odor when in the car. Additionally it seems as though the exhaust has gotten louder. I'm thinking this may be the cat but the gas smell has me worried and doubtful that it is the cat. I've tried to look at the cat after driving for a bit but have not seen it glow orange. Anybody have any tips?

Yes your codes are for random and front rotor misfires. So changing coils, wires and plugs was a good idea. What coils, plugs and wires did you put in? They are not all created equal.
