manually crank engine?
 

Hey guys, am new to this forum and car, but my rx 8 2009 has carbon inside it so i was going to try sea foam and let it sit (at least that what I read online during my research), and the problem is I don't really know how to rotate the chamber... any advice on how I would do that? I read that you can use a breaker bar or something of the sort? Thx.

Seafoam doesn't really do anything.

How do you know there's excessive carbon build up?

When I try to start it all I hear is a "clank" noise and read that it was seized, I haven't drove it for awhile and has been sitting in outside and was pretty cold at night to. Haven't drove it for about 2 to 3 weeks now

Clank? Perhaps a click, such as when your battery is low? Check the battery first :)

If you havent driven it in 2-3 weeks and its starting to get cold, could be a battery issue as mentioned above. Depending on the age, may be worth getting a new battery

Hmm ok I'll recheck that today, just before it would crank and now it's just a "clank"

Alright so the battery was dead 0% charge, so i took it to autozone and got it charged up for free, but still not starting, cranks but no start, might be flooded idk, but ill prob have to take it somewhere to get check on (probably the dealership...)

Did you try to deflood it?

yes i have, but idk what am doing wrong. doesn't seem to work(prob how i killed my battery). last time I took it to the dealer they said the deflooded for me but that i need new spark plugs and ignition coils and could do it for $1000. said no thx and walked out cause that was too expensive.

So actually really do need new coils and spark plugs. Flooding a symptom of bad ignition. It'll be a lot more expensive when they cause the catalytic converter and engine to fail completely.

You can get the parts at NAPA or similar, and the work to replace them is very doable on your own. Will be much less than $1000

oh ok thx, but if i do get the parts and stuff how would I proceed? deflood it before right? and how? i have found threads on here should i just try that again?

No just replace the ignition. Flooding is literally spark plugs being wet with fuel. Change spark plugs and you remove the problem.

The deflood procedure is just push the gas all the way down and crank for 5 seconds. Stop wait 10 seconds, repeat. Do that 3 times, then start normally.
You can try that out, but the proper fix that saves yout engine from death is to replace the ignition. Don't drive it until you get that sorted out, if you can avoid it.

ok so i did all that replace everything even the battery, and it sounds like it wants to start but its not going, any ideas?
