Lost reverse, any tips?

So I baught my 8 in february with 128xxx miles and havnt had it on the road due to fixing anything and everything that's wrong with it. At first it was hard to shift into reverse like some 8s do or possibly the clutch that needs replaced and since then it has become in possible to get into reverse.

The only time I drive it is to move it from the garage outside and possibly up the road to get the rpms up and clean out the carbon. I've ordered redline to change the fluids to see if that will help any. I'm almost positive the fluids in this care were not changed properly.

Do you guys think I should put the new fluid in, along with the clutch and see what happens or should I just order a used tranny with 35k to 65k miles on it since it has to come off to replace the clutch and get it over with.

First tip is park wisely.
Do the other gears shift well? Does it give you any trouble going into first?

Pull the little plate that holds the shifter in place and see if it works then.

You can look up threads on installing a AFE short shifter for instructions. It will not take 10 Miniutes to pull it out and give it a test drive. Basically unscrew the shifter knob, pop up the plastic cover. Pull off the rubber and undo 3 bolts. Then put the knob back on and drive.

Goes into first just fine and I didn't notice any problems with any other gears, but I will try taking off the plate and see what happens

Just curoius about the other gears that might point towards clutch problems. Give the plate thing a try and If that doesn't do it Then I'm guessing your trans is gone.

When mine doesn't want to go into reverse I put into 1st and pull forward a inch or two, then stop and it goes right in to reverse no problem. I always put my car into second before I go to reverse. Old habit. Someone once told me it helps synchronize it when I was like 16 so I just do it anyways.
