Yeah, pretty good for an '04.
It appears the previous owner took good care of it, and knew how to drive it.

Before I took the 8 hour round trip to go look at it I had my bank call the dealer to verify the price. The dealer tacked on a $499 doc fee they neglected to tell me about. I didn't take the drive! Still looking ... . . . . . . . .

Yeah, those sneaky dealer fees, pretty crap when they "overlook" mentioning them too.

That's too bad.
That $499 is a deal breaker?
It seemed like a good 8, Idk how easy it is to find one in really good condition with good compression.
Good luck with your search.

I guess maybe it's the principle of the matter? In all fairness, that's how I'd look at it too, in a sense it makes you wonder what else is being "overlooked" in your deal? Of course since he's buying his first confidence is a major factor and sometimes better to just walk away and give yourself peace of mind even if the deal seems so good, even that can be a red flag right? Best to listen to your instincts over your passionate mind, that's actually quite a grounded and admirable approach IMO.

I am an integrity and honor type of guy. So when the dealer gives me an "out the door price" then sneaks in an added fee when my bank confirms the total price that goes against everything I believe in. If tomorrow rolls around and the GM calls me apologizing and offers to waive that fee I will most likely go ahead with the deal. I've been searching extensively out 500 miles from me and have not found a clean low mileage car like this one. We shall see......

True. But it's a hard decision.
Do you stand on principle, and possibly regret not buying it down the road?

The dealer I bought mine from did it also, but I paid it anyway.
I didn't like it, and I told them I didn't, but by that time I had already spent a couple of hours haggling with them.
I offered them $4k less than what they were asking, and after the whole "go ask my Sales Mgr." back & forth routine, I gave in.
It was basically a game of chicken, they knew by that time that I really wanted it, and I was afraid if I didn't buy it, someone else would, probably for more than I was offering.
It was a dealer very near my house, & they put it right out front. I saw it the first day they put it out.

I did think it was too good to be true.
I thought there was no way an '04 only had 18,500 miles in 8 years.
Carfax, examining it closely, it checked out.
It also had new Goodyear Eagle tires.

I don't regret it.

The day I bought my RX8

Don't wait for them to call you if you want it, call them and ask if they reconsidered.
They might.
They can afford to wait and see a few days if someone else will offer more.
Good luck!

I emailed them today and they are sticking by their guns. I sent a long email tonight requesting that it be shared with the GSM and owners of the dealership. If I do not get a satisfactory response I will be calling the dealership to speak with the owners. None-the-less, I will not buy from them. I have not found any other clean low mileage RX8's out there and I need a car yesterday!

My 04 had 8,500 miles in May of 08 when I bought it. Currently has 79k on the chassis and a little over 1k on my rebuild.

Bought it as a 4 port auto and am about ready to sell it as a 6 port manual. I'll wave the $500 dealer fee too.

Why not fly? Can't be that expensive, seriously take a little trip and drive it back. If it were me I'd do it in a heart beat, the car's made for road trips, well in a sense, though not the most comfortable on long trips, it makes up in fun factor for what it lacks in road refinement, nothing better then a few hundred mile test drive to sort it out too..

I wasn't joking. $4500 and its yours. 100% stock minus mb battle wheels, powertrix coilovers, BHR midpipe, and TXS catback.

Hell, I'll even throw in the stock suspension (has around 40k miles on it) and the stock midpipe/cat (about 20k on it).

There's even a Mazda dealer about 5 miles down the road if you want it tested.

Hell at that price I'm seriously considering it myself, it'd be a nice little road trip for me and my boys but I'm at least a month or 2 away from that kind of funds at the moment with the holidays and all. But seriously is there pictures to be had? If it's still around? (Though I doubt it at that price) I'll give it serious consideration myself and I'm in Florida.

Ignore it why? It's not there anymore either? So any recent pics then? Maybe it's not even straight anymore? Any interior shots? You have an ad here I may have missed? Likely, since I wasn't looking further north then the southeast.

PM sent. I would be all over it if I could man. Seems like a ton of crap cars for sale around here in the Mississippi area. I may have to buy another car then go back to the RX8 at a later time. Ugghhh
