I don't see any damage, looks like poorly fitting parts were installed and then some were removed (rear bumper).

What counts is the engine. You could have a mint car with a dying engine.

Smexy wheels though :)

BigCajun 05-31-2019 11:24 AM

I wouldn't give much for it.
No bumper, busted side and tail light, holes in the trunk lid, and I'll be shocked if it's not deformed from that stoopid wing.
My 2 cents.

BigCajun 05-31-2019 11:29 AM

No engine or battery cover, looks like the right rear was hit, tailpipe/muffler needs to be replaced.
If it's an automatic, I wouldn't touch it.

thebubbadog 05-31-2019 11:39 AM

Well seeing that this is copart and they sell insurance cars that are broken or wrecked and looking it at they could have been rear ended and that's why it's there but it's probably got some good miles on it so most likely it is about to die so I would plan on maybe having to replace the engine but you could also get lucky and maybe they had the engine replaced. Other then that the car could be fixed on on the outside

Ricky SE3P 05-31-2019 11:43 AM

Car is a 6 speed, you can see the clutch line by the brake booster.

Minor damage to the exhaust, likely repairable by a competent muffler shop.

Going to need a fair amount of body work, and body work gets expensive. To be honest, it might be cheaper buying a car with a perfect body and toast motor than a perfect motor and needing tons of body work to get looking clean again.

Wheels, exhaust, suspension... plenty of parts can be purchased second hand to save money upgrading the car. You're better off buying something else. I would pay max of $500 for that car.

schumithecat 05-31-2019 12:17 PM

agree i wouldn't pay more than $500 for that car, unless you can confirm the engine was just rebuilt by a good shop, then maybe you could buy it just for the engine to put in a car that doesn't require tons of body work. that wing is hideous.

Ecliipzez 05-31-2019 02:20 PM

Well they actually accepted the bid of $1050 and I won, i have to pay a total of $1,681.12.

Ecliipzez 05-31-2019 02:20 PM

BIG YIKES paid $1,681.12

thebubbadog 05-31-2019 02:23 PM

Is that will all the fee's and stuff? I've bought off of copart and they have several fee's they will charge

Ecliipzez 05-31-2019 02:24 PM

Yeah.

If you have an engine with decent compression then you can justify it.
If the engine's toast, not so much.
Good luck.

Yeah.

Not to awful IG. I'm guessing its a run and drive. Hopefully it will work out well for you!

Ecliipzez 05-31-2019 02:32 PM

Yes its a run and drive. I know the wing is like $320 retail and wheels and rims have to be worth something. also has a touchscreen head unit.

BigCajun 05-31-2019 02:34 PM

Do you have experience with RX8s?

Ecliipzez 05-31-2019 02:35 PM

None this is a first car for me.

Then you're going to need to read the new owner stickies.
If you're willing to do your own work then this forum is probably your best resource.

If you're driving it home, drive it straight home without stopping.
If you need to stop for gas, leave the engine running.
Don't shut it off until you get it home, then shut it off and see if it will start right back up.

thebubbadog 05-31-2019 02:50 PM

When the car is hot it shouldn't take longer then 5 second's to start back up, If it does it's got low compression.

BigCajun 05-31-2019 02:57 PM

^Right, and if it's bad it could take a half hour to cool off enough to start again.
Don't want you to burn up your starter or kill your battery until you're home.

I'm at work and always to busy to even talk to my friends I have online so I wouldn't have time but someone else might

Ecliipzez 05-31-2019 05:15 PM

Contacted previous owner says he changed the coils on it 2 years ago and last time he remembers the compression was good.
