Hey, I see to introduce myself to the forum in the new members section, what to say about myself?

Just got an RX8 (2004/2005), sputters a little so I ordered new plugs (iridium NGK) I wouldn't normally buy them over standard plugs but they're cheaper and people seem to like them here, NGK leads I believe and the REV-C coils from mazmart (i think that's the site's name :wiggle:), i'll also give the MAF sensor a good clean with brake cleaner or contact cleaner and I should imagine she'll be alright. I originally brought a set of eBay-special coils, but hearing all the scare stories put me right off and I went for the best ones mazda do before using third party coils like off an ls2.

Seems like a good car, I am not sure if she's losing power at the lower RPM or if they really are totally gutless at lower revs, I suppose i'll have a definitive answer after I basically upgrade the entire ignition system, she's only done 24k miles and is in top condition, so I am happy.

Oh, I had to order a complete brake set too as the rotors were rather crusty, mtec black slotted grooved drilled etc with brembo pads.

You got a series 1 with just 25,000 miles on it. Fantastic! Take care of it, give it the TLC it requires, talk nice to it and it'll reward you with just about the most fun you can have behind the wheel of a car with your pants on.

Quick response! Yep, I always do my homework when looking to buy a new vehicle as it's free and saves me a lot of money! Internet forums are generally the best resource out there. :)

Attached is just a couple of snaps I took to send to friends, I have an autoglym claybar kit in the post and a machine polisher at hand to take out some light surface scratches, but my plan is to keep her as stock as possible with the exception of the up-rated brake rotors for the sake of better stopping and rust prevention.

I'm thinking about putting in a 2kw starter too as they look fairly cheap, but i'll see how the ignition mods go first.

I'm not familiar with those brakes, but the OEM brakes are pretty darn good. If those are better than OEM then if you need to brake hard you better keep an eye in your rear view mirror lest you get rearended. Very few cars can stop in a shorter distance than a stock RX8.

Oh yes, the stock ones are good, I just got these coated ones because they are cheaper and they won't rust when I don't use them for a few weeks and the old ones are too worn. Not a performance upgrade, purely practical.

My rev.c coils arrived from mazmart, my ngk leads arrived and my ngk platinum plugs too.

My weekend is sorted to attempt to fix the spluttering / misfire.

Agh! The steering wheel is on the wrong side! You really need to get that looked at.

Welcome aboard. Tune up is the best thing you can do. You also want to check the service history to make sure it got all of the PCM updates. There were some tweaks, especially for the oil metering pump. Not a place you want to cut corners.
