Hi guys!

My name is Breanna, I currently live in Ft. Worth, TX. I just drove home my new '09 RX-8. It's a black on black 6 speed GT. It's quirky and I love the crap out of it already, even if a semi decided to kick a stone at me and crack the windshield on the way home. I'm just hoping that isn't a sign of things to come. But I'm used to it cuz my previous car was a '95 GSX Eclipse. Anyway, just saying hi, I'll probably be around a lot. But here's a dumb question, I've never owned a Bluetooth anything in my life. How do I connect my cars Bluetooth to my phone?
Thanks in advance!:lol2:

Yea nvm, we figured that out pretty quick. Somehow the dealership lost the owners manual. They're ordering me a new one, but till then it's kinda guesswork.

Read through this when you get time. https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/

A 2009 means that you got the latest iteration of engine, which is much more reliable than the series1 (2004-2008), so some of the warnings/cautions in there won't apply to you.

The owner's manual is also available for free as a PDF file from MazdaUSA owner's section, if you want the owner's manual earlier than it takes the dealer to get it.

Welcome, this is the manual.

Do you miss your old car? I spent a few years in a 93' GSX, I would love to own one again some day.

I did read that start to finish before I bought the car. Haha y'all succeeded in scaring the crap out of me for about 15 minutes. But then I watched a couple of Youtube video's of Rx-8 comparisons with other cars and talked myself into fighting with the dealer to test drive it. And here I am lol.

It came from a Ford/Mazda dealer so it's certified pre-owned. It passed their 150 point inspection, they replaced a bunch of radiator and coolant related parts, new tires, everything works, etc. 60,000 miles, 7yr/100,000 mile warranty still applies. They're supposed to be finding the numbers from the compression test they did, but they're dragging their feet. They wouldn't be able to sell it certified if it wasn't up to factory specs though. I'm quite happy with the car. Whenever I get home during the day, I'll take a bunch of pictures. I'm a flight attendant so I'm not home much, but that will help keep the car low mileage.

Yeah, it's all stuff you need to be aware of, but if you accept that and love the car anyway, it's a pretty damn good fit of a car. :) :icon_tup:

Welcome!

Thanks for finding those =]

I absolutely 100% miss my GSX. I had it for almost 4 years, and had it running in much better condition than when I got it, drove it to Chicago from Rhode Island when I got hired for my current job, parked it outside a gas station a month later, and when I came outside some asshole had side swiped it, and Progressive deemed it totaled.

I paid 3,600 for it in 2009, they gave me 4,000 for it in 2013. So not a total loss but I was heartbroken. I honestly did look for another while I was car shopping, but at this point they're 20 year old cars and most of them are really beat on if you can find any at all.

WOW Breanna, that is a sweet looking RX8!! Awesome pics as well, Congrats on your find. What airline do you work with? My brother works for Southwest out of Love Field and I am always flying into DFW and Love field.

Drazil 08-11-2014 10:38 AM

Thank you! I took a ton more pictures but I only posted the best few.

I fly for American Eagle (depending on how savvy you are with airline drama, it's also called Envoy, which was the original American Eagle before they started to contract out our flying). We're one of the regional carriers for American, so DFW only. I would LOVE to be hired with Southwest though.

LOL I have flown American Eagle a couple of times out of LAX usually into Dallas although once into Albuquerque if I remember correct. I always felt a little ostracized having to be bussed out to their little terminal and then stuck out there awaiting the plane. I know that my brother loves working for Southwest!!

Drazil 08-14-2014 10:00 AM

Lol yea, LAX is pretty ghetto. But they've been working on redoing it, there are even vending machines there now!! I did a good amount of LAX flying when I was Chicago based, but I won't get there nearly as much now that I'm Dallas based. Haha if your brother happens to mention that southwest is hiring, you should pass that info my way. :P

Killer ride! I almost got one in black, but the guy was a dick, so I bought some other gentleman's velocity red one. Best decision ever. Yours is missing a spoiler tho... :eyetwitch

Drazil 08-20-2014 08:10 PM

Lol yea looks sweet, till you look at my phone and see 7 or 8 threads all about P0301. And I haven't even gotten my real plates in the mail yet. And the dealership is dragging their feet on the results from the compression test that they said they did do when they got the car, but now maybe didn't do? So I don't want to buy 200-500 worth of ignition replacement parts if the engine is crap, so now I have to wage a holy war with the dealership before I can begin troubleshooting my car that I now refuse to drive anywhere so that I don't make it worse.

On that note, has anyone used Lucas oil fuel injector cleaner with any success in an 8? That's what my boyfriend swears by for his old mustang but I'm weary of trying it.

And PS, I really wanted the blue lol

ottocycle 08-21-2014 06:11 PM

Welcome, Breanna. Sweet ride!

Drazil 08-23-2014 11:29 AM

So I tried posting on a related thread but haven't gotten an answer yet.

Two questions, are misfire CEL's always flashing? Because I have a solid CEL that is code P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire).

Question 2, how far is ok to drive the car with the CEL on saying misfire? I'm asking cuz I got the dealership to give in and do the compression test for free for me and I was going to go today.

So basically, I was going to replace plugs/coils/wires cuz I'm not when they were last done, if ever, but don't want to waste time or money if the engine is gone. Help and advice appreciated =]

RIWWP 08-23-2014 02:54 PM

A flashing CEL is always a misfire. But a misfire can also have a solid CEL. Basically, if you have a light misfire it will flash, and if you ignore it long enough, it will go solid because you aren't fixing it. A heavy misfire will often go straight to a solid CEL.

If you have a misfire code, you have misfires. I don't know of any case where that hasn't been true.

A heavy misfire can clog a cat to the point of danger for the engine, sensors, and a car fire in as little as 20-50 miles. They really aren't safe to drive unless you know exactly what is causing the misfire, and how bad it is.

Drazil 08-23-2014 05:55 PM

Ok good to know. It was weird cuz the car was driving fine, I turned it off, went into the bank, came out, and when I started the car, the CEL was on. It wasn't like it had been on when I bought it and then I ignored it or anything.
