Yup. We don't have one. We just have a pulsation damper.

wilas57 04-09-2015 11:07 AM

Oooo got it thanks a lot, which one do you recomend buyin?

RIWWP 04-09-2015 11:07 AM

A pulsation damper? What are you trying to fix? I haven't heard of them failing.

wilas57 04-09-2015 11:16 AM

My rx is falling when i stop pressing on the gas it shuts down, i check it with the computer and the code came out p0172

Diagnosing properly is going to be more productive for you.

DTC P0172

DTC P0172
System too rich

DETECTION CONDITION

• The PCM monitors the short term fuel trim (SHRTFT) and long term fuel trim (LONGFT) when under closed loop fuel control. If the fuel trim is less than the specification, the PCM determines that the system is too rich.
Diagnostic support note

• This is a continuous monitor (Fuel system).
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Front HO2S malfunction
• Fuel line pressure malfunction
• Fuel pump unit malfunction
• Purge solenoid valve malfunction
• Fuel pump speed control malfunction
• PCM malfunction
Add to that list it could be a MAF problem as well, under reporting the airflow.

It is most likely that the problem is going to be a dirty MAF that just needs cleaning or a failing front O2 sensor. Cleaning the MAF is really cheap with a can of MAF cleaner. Reset your fuel trims after doing this and see if the problem persists. If it does, then move on to testing your front O2 sensor with OBD2. A bluetooth or wifi adapter paired with your smartphone and an OBD2 app is the cheapest method, and one of the most cost effective tools you can have with a modern car.

Wrong.

Yes, the pump has one built into it. Also known as the fuel pump assembly. For what he was looking for... the answer is still 'no'.

wilas57 04-14-2015 11:07 AM

It was the maf sensor it was dirty thanks, but one more thing my rx waste a lot of gas any tips?

RIWWP 04-14-2015 11:09 AM

You are going to have to provide quantifiable data. Not all cars have the same mileage as every other car. At least I assume you mean gas mileage and are not complaining about a fuel tank leak.

If you think 9mpg is "wasting gas", you are correct and there is something you can do about it. If you think 24mpg is "wasting gas", then you are still correct but there is nothing you can do about it except trade in the car for a more fuel efficient one.

wilas57 04-14-2015 11:17 AM

I mean the mileage, can we do something to improve it?

RIWWP 04-14-2015 11:20 AM

If you are getting 24mpg on the highway, no.

You haven't actually said what your mileage is under what conditions, so I have no idea what advice to give you.

wilas57 04-14-2015 11:25 AM

Normal i think i get like 16-18mpg

RIWWP 04-14-2015 11:26 AM

16-18mpg is pretty good for city driving in an RX-8. At least, I assume you mean city driving. You didn't say.

wilas57 04-14-2015 11:42 AM

Yes city driving, and do you know anithing about chip that "improves your mpg and hp"?

RIWWP 04-14-2015 11:44 AM

Your questions are getting into the realm of what is covered in the new member threads :)

"chip"

Every single "ECU chip" is a complete scam for our car. At best it's the same as taping a couple $100 dollar bills to your ECU, at worst it can

Got it:) rx8 are complicated but i love mine

Search. It is a common code related to the air pump.

Hi Wilas

I responded to you in your other thread.
Try to keep the topic isolated over there for efficiency and clarity.
