Hello from Spain and RX8 Temp question
Hello from Spain and RX8 Temp question
Hi all
My name is Alex and I have already 6 months with my full original Mazda 2007. 231CV
My car have 51k Miles on the clock. is 100% original without any modification.
I use Idemitsu 10-30
Coolant FL22 pure
Premium Gasolne
Premix 125ML per full tank
Always hot car before drive hard and cool car before turning off.
I had temperature issues when I bought it. After using the proper coolant FL22, Changed the radiator ( I installed the original one from Mazda as the previous was stuck ) and changed the thermostat.. here how he is running now and I would like to understand if you think all is good.
Normal running: flat highway at 86miles per hour: 194 - 204 F.
Running uphill for a while at 50 miles per hour ( 5 to 10 minutes) 208 - 2012 F ( after the hill it goes down inmediately)
Running uphill at 8000 RPM fixed ( 2nd gear and maintained at 8000 RPMs) for 2 or 3 minutes at 50 miles per hour: 217 - 221 F ( it goes down inmediately reducing the RPMs even if still on the ramp up)
Heavy Traffic : if the car comes cool ( around 200) it stays between 203 - 208 F
Heavy traffic coming hot it stays around 212
All these test were done with A/C on and an exterior temperature of between 85 and 91F
I don't like to do mods at least there is a good reaosn, Such as the part is not sell by Mazda.
if you see as experts somethig wrong with my car, let me know.
note: Please sorry for any grammar mistake as english is not my native language

That's normal for the RX8 as delivered. If you like your car you should take steps to modify it to have it run at thermostat temp, especially on the highway, where it should be able to.
Temperature and lubrication deficiency are the reason these don't last longer.

There are a bunch of threads on this. I live in Arizona, therefore I use two radiators.

The stock radiator for the s1 is single row, a 2 row is marginally better. Get the fans to come on sooner and at high power. Make sure foam and undertray are stock, etc.

Hello Axolote
I am french and i have a y2007 rx8 231 with 55000 kilometers
I know a good hack to reduce the engine temperature but i dont know if its ok for your ITV polution control
Anyway it is simple and cheap to do so you can fit the original mazda system again before ITV control
In the south of France we have much more heat during the summer than in Canarias (so i give you a video link about the modification)
Just look at this Youtube tutorial for a cheap efficient Hack : "AMELIORER FACILEMENT LE REFROIDISSEMENT D'UNE MAZDA RX8" made by "13warriors"
If you have got any adress or link in Spain about RX8 motor specialists, please tell me because i am looking for somebody able to put a low boost turbo or to ad a rotor in my car.
Si tienes contactos en Espana peninsular sobre el tema de poner un turbo en el renesis o de anadir un rotor, decir me lo porfa.
Un cordial saludo desde Francia
