Welcome.
You shouldn't have much of a problem finding an RX8 project car. i'm looking at 2004/5 models. Would a 6 speed manual be the 177kW version? cost to rebuild an engine? or replace? i did see somewhere you can get a crate engine, any comments on this? |

Rx8club-subject-search. There are a lot of project and rebuild threads that can be helpful. There's a rebuilder's thread with much discussion, Idk if it'll help. http://"Rotary Engine Rebuilders - R...ilders-265177/ |
Well,
Bit the bullet, my "Project" car is a JDM 2006 Type S bought yesterday, just have to wait to get it from Japan, no actual ETA yet, we're having a sweepstake to see how long it could take to get to New Zealand |
There are a few very competent folks here from NZ who may be able to help you out. Check the AU/NZ subforum. If you haven't already, read rx8help.com for broad strokes familiarization with thinfs to look out for.
Do not rebuild your engine, get a ready rebuilt one with good parts either from Mazda or a well reputed rotary shop in your area. Any way you slice it, it's about 3500 USD for the engine.. not sure about NZ local pricing. What are your goals for the project? |
