Erratic Idling and not consistent acceleration.
Pretty much what the title says. I can't get an smooth idle and when I'm revving it up on low RPMS I can't do it smoothly. It continuously jumps up and down.
Before this it didn't even idle, it just stalled. Got some error codes on "cylinder misfire 1" that I've fixed changing the 2 plugs from the first rotor and now I have this. It's better than before that's for sure, at least now it doesn't stall. Also after revving up and letting go of the pedal I get some popping noises, maybe clogged cat? The engine is rebuilt and it doesn't have more than 10k Km. And the compression test that I have before I bought it 3 months ago says that it's good. Alternator is charging at 13.80, battery it's 6 months old. The ECU is modified to add more oil to the mixture for reliability. The oil I'm using is 20w50. Any help for fixing this? Maybe 4 new plugs, coils? Dirty MAF? U can hear it on this video. I am revving it without moving the foot on the accelerator. |
i always replace all plugs, wires, coils together. i would start with the easy cheap stuff like cleaning the maf, cleaning the ess and resetting it with the 20 brake stomp

Thanks! I'll do that first. Then when I can i'll get a new set of plugs wires and coils.

I was thinking on a BHR coils set, an Iridium NGK plugs and a MSD wires. The only thing about them is that i'll likely have to wait 1-2 months for them bcs of shipping to EU and all.

Why don't you try the aem ign a1 kit. You can find it in EU. Comes with harness and msd wires. All you need is a bracket to mount them.

But the AEM need other connectors and all right? I didn't really thought about them bcs of that.

What about using Mazda revision C coils? From what I understand Mazda fixed the issues of the previous version coils.

I've changed the cat to an empty one, cleaned MAF and ESS and the 20 brake stomp. It improved a little bit but it's still irregular. So I think that the next thing should be plugs/coils/wires

Needs several miles to settle after the 20 break stomp procedure. Idle is erratic at first but not like that in the video.

Check the T coils if it idles like crap and runs OK. It fires the T plugs first at idle and you wouldn't notice a T coil at higher rpms much.
Check the plugs... a non-firing plug is obvious usually |

Check and clean all your grounds too. I’m happy with my Bennett setup for coils and wires. Very affordable and his billet aluminum bracket is top notch.

I also have the Bennet built kit and never had a Problem.
