Flashing check engine light is always a misfire.
Likely need new coils and plugs

About the battery draining.
What modifications have you made, amp, stereo, grounding kit?

You're losing current somewhere.

Hey it sounds like you're experiencing the exact same problem I have. I went to the first link below and went ahead and pulled my sparkplugs, they were covered in black gunk. Replacements are in the mail but in the meantime check out the forum post below.

For a handy guide as to pulling the ignition system components I always turn to youtube

As to the battery issue, it sound like you have a short circuit or inappropriate ground somewhere. Try to visually check the wires under the bonnet and the dash to see if anything is disconnected or if any of the rubber insulation has worn through. Also mayhaps take a look at your fuses. Other than that:dunno:

Hope this helps

Addendum: In the video he states that white spots on the ignition coils means they need replacing. I have since been informed that this is not a reliable method for testing their performance. Personally I'm replacing mine anyway so I will know how many miles(Kms for me) go into the new ones.
